I absolutely LOVED Freelancer, still my favorite space game.
I prefer to not get hyped up about games, especially after a first look, but I can't help but get excited about this when I see the trailer and remember Freelancer. Signed up for beta, but I never get selected for closed betas so I won't get my hopes up.

Having played EVE for almost 9 months I have to say it's hard to beat.
This game looks more like WoW in space with instant gratification and skill grinding.
EVE is more long term development.
Edit: Lots of space based games have been touted as the 'EVE Killer' but most have flopped and don't have that longevity of EVE.

Not to mention, the developers take care of you if you play EVE. Major problems are solved quickly, and really, it's the best managed game I've ever played online.

hah, I'm terrible at flying choppers in BF. Always have been. I use it as a tool, if people are chasing me, I'll get in one, and since I can't fly them, I usually land upside down on the person chasing me, explode, and kill them.

I am a GOD, at flying helicopters 2-10 times ill ever get shot down. unless I'm trying to show off long story short. i practically jizz in mah pants when I FLY every time i fly or pilot any thing I feel very satisfied like the feeling you get after you just built a computer.

If it really is EVE Online meet Freelancer, then it'll be a hell of a game, Freelancer was awesome and EVE still is. Gonna check the trailers now =D

No but really, it looks sweet, but it looks VERY simple. I think that the people that find EVE to be too complicated (since you can do like everything in that game) might like this game, and also those who was disappointed at EVE's dull interactivity while you actually fly around in space, this seems like it will have a lot more action.
Buuut, I doubt that it will have what actually makes EVE one of the greatest MMO's of all time: the possibility to do whatever the fuck you want and however you want to do it. The political and financial world in EVE is IMO much more awesome than it's combat aspect (which is totally badass as well when there is large space battles).
They said that the gameplay video was not comparable to the final product, but they'll have to do a total remake for even just the HUD to reach EVE standards.
