Its good that the game gets 4/5. And imo it gets good before 25 hours.

FF13 was good the moment I put it in my PS3. I seriously don't know what everyone's problem is with the first quarter of the game. FF13 is awesome.

People are ranting bad things about it because it's different and a bit slower paced than the older Final Fantasy games. The pricks can't stand the fact that Square-Enix doesn't want to make the same game with different characters thirteen times so they bitch and complain everywhere about everything they possibly can.
I love Final Fantasy XIII so far. I'm only about 5 hours in and I'm enjoying it a lot.
So to all the haters: Just because you're a whiney little bitch doesn't mean the game isn't good. So shut the fuck up.

people rant about stupid things all the time. I play games the way the director decided to make them. I won't complain about things if the game is good.

I was a bit iffy about buying the game after reading some of the things about it, but honestly now that I've got it I don't understand why so many people were bitching about it.

I don't get the complaints there is no 1 true style when it comes to a Final Fantasy game
Ever installment changes the setup an rules of how the game plays
For example
FF9 The last "True" Old School Setup much like the first 6 chapter of the series
FF10 Liner Character Driven Story
FF11 MMO Online only game pay to play per month
FF12 Offline version of a MMO dungeon crawler basic bland story rarely any cut scenes or character development
F13 returns back to Liner Character Driven Story setup but is more of a action adventure
^_^

It's not that they want the same style of all the games. They just want FF7 over and over until Square-Enix commits mass suicide among all the employees.

A remake of FF7 would be cool though I'm just saying... LOL ^_^A remake would be fine. But not every installment of Final Fantasy needs to be a carbon copy of FF7.
I was never a FF7 fan myself. But I have nothing against it. Just enough already.
FF13 is awesome the way it is. It doesn't have to mirror the most successful of the series to be good.

A lot of newcomers to FF have most likely played 7 or any of it's iterations. I hate how they always compare every single FF game to 7.
Anyways, I still haven't gotten this game yet, but I have always planned on getting it. When I get the chance, I'm not going to be doing anything else but playing it xD

I'd like to see a full-blown remake of FF6 but at the same time I'm afraid they are just going to bastardize it. The characters will probably end up looking queer and japanese-y but hopefully they will use the same music and keep the story and gameplay intact.

It's seems the whiney bitch here is you. Insulting other people for not liking the game when you yourself have only played the game for 5 hours.
Have you even read what people have critiziced about the game? You obviously didn't, since you made retarded allegations such as this

Got this game and currently playing it. So far I am impressed and challenged with the game play but being the final fantasy genius as I know I am I quickly managed to master the gameplay so even the boss are now shit. But of course I don't take that against the game it's just me. What disappoints me though is its lack of a world map. Every Final Fantasy or at least most final fantasies have "saving the world from an utter destruction" as a final goal so they actually show us or at least give us an overview of what world it is we are actually saving. As it stands there isn't even a geographical map in the game needless to say that they removed exploration. It's now become all linear without the previous elements that makes a final fantasy. The moogles have been removed... well fuck them never really cared about those bastards, and the chocobos are now entirely useless other than some supposed to be cute mascots in cinematics.
Other than the absence of a world map I have bigger complains. The game has become more unimmersive than its predecessors. Sure there are a lot of npcs but they don't even talk other than the ones that actually matter. But this is a small thing compared to how unimmersive its story telling got. The game starts with you already being in the train *which is in a cinematic* then fighting your way to Serah, now this is the introduction chapter a.k.a. chapter one. This introduction is so vague that it made my favourite character Lightning look like a twisted version of Cloud that grew breasts. A better introduction would have been the game letting us play the events leading to Serah becoming a Pulse iCie rather than just watching the short flashbacks that are quite annoying to watch. Every chapter god sandwitched by short and long cinematics dubbed by extremely stupid voice actors to the point that its horrible. In example Vanille sounded alright at first like a cute little american girl, then blimey suddenly she sounded like a british with an awkward accent then before I knew it she's an irish!
Next major complain GAMEPLAY. While the actual fight is quite amusing, challenging and generally fun to play it has a major flaw that hangs around like a bad smell. The god damned thing won't let me choose the character I wanted to play until the later part of the game! I could barely tolerate teaming up with an old afro hobo let alone control it for hours because of the game's arbitrary piece of shit. It's my team god damn it let me fight with my team the way I want to!
Final Fantasy 13 is a good game not without flaws but they are at least forgivable. Sure I miss the old world map I used to roam around in other FF games. And sure I had to replay every single god damned cinematic if not rewatch it on youtube because the story telling is so unimmersive. And sure I had to cover my ears every time the voice actors would embarrass themselves. Sure I had to keep dropping my wireless controller the whole arc i had to control that afro hobo. But even with all these complaints FF13 is a fun game. It's not like I expected it to be perfect in the first place but the gameplay fights alone are worth my money. Can't wait for the next FF.

Spoiler:
I found the story quite enjoyable from the get go making the characters easily connectible. Also, you're suppose to view Lightning as a twisted version of Cloud in the beginning of the game. You're making this sound like you haven't played very far into the game (Warning possible spoiler ahead). When Lightning has her epiphany later on in the game she stops being the twisted Lightning because she realizes it was wrong and that she was also leading Hope to a path of self destruction. It was planned for you to view Lighning that way. Also, she was designed off of Cloud so that explains the Cloud part.
As for the voice acting I won't go into any detail, but I don't find any of them annoying. I think they nailed every single character perfectly.

It's my team god damn it let me fight with my team the way I want to!This makes no sense what so ever. You want them to let you choose your team when for the first 19-24 hours of the game most of the characters are miles and miles away from each other? Or are you simpley referring to you want to choose one of the two characters that you're partying with for most of the time. The entire team doesn't get together until way into the game and that's when you get to choose your leader and team as I am sure you know. It might just be you and your preference to do so, but I don't think the team thought it was a big enough deal to bother with having you choose one of the two characters that are together as your team leader since it wouldn't make any difference.
As for the easy part you're saying where the bosses are all shit; I really hope you're joking. You must be leveling and fighting every monster in your path if it's true because the Chapter 9 Boss is ridiculous. There is no way you fought a boss with 700,000 HP with multiple magic attacks and found it shit easy as you put it. After Chapter 9 even all the monsters go up several levels of hard. I'm not saying you're lying (well, I am, but not in the whole insult way), but I think you're over exaggerating the easiness of it.
I do realize that this is all your personal opinion, but I just had to throw my two cents out there on your issues. One last thing; Sazh is awesome.
Awesome game is awesome.

Spoiler:
Yes I know she becomes the cool, loving and lovable character I expected she is but this is not after a few chapters. If I was an adult working overtime with only FF13 as something to pass time I wouldn't have enough time to play to that point when she actually realized her mistakes therefore I would look at her until then as an unlikable character and if the character could barely care about what happens why should I?
Spoiler:
Commonsense of course in the limits of the current party! Remember that unlike the previous final fantasies here you can only control one person at a time even with the use of paradigm shifts. The least the game could do is let me choose what character to stick to but noooo I had to play the guy with a chocobo on his hair who probably has lots of chocobo poo on his afro already.
Oh and yes its an awesome game but like i said not a game without flaws.
edit: yes I probably did grind a lot morethan normal. Maybe thats why I found it easy.

Fighting everything along the way, I never really had trouble with regular mobs, but after a point in late chapter 9 I would come across a normal battle that would tear me apart.

I don't have any major complaints about the game so far, and since I've reached the point where people have said it "get's good" I guess I won't have any since I didn't see a problem with the first part.
