Video game where you play as the villain?

Can someone tell me of some games where you play as the villain. Not something like Disgaea where being villainous is a huge joke.
I might have heard incorrectly, but is FF Tactics for the GBA such a title?

If you're into Gundam, I'd suggest Zeonic Front. Its pretty much Rainbow Six with Zeon Mobile Suits.

The Overlord games are worth noting as the entire point of the game is to be an evil overlord and take over the world by using your army of minions. You can even club baby seals in the second game.

Unfortunatly, most every game with a direct intention to be evil has churned out to be generic repetitive trash. Best bet so far is doujin works or games with open ended styles of play. For example, Mount and Blade, especcially with mods, is fantastic fun. However, there's not really a story and being evil just relegates to slaughtering everyone.

I actually cant think of any right away, but I played the DLC for Gears of War 3 recently and you are able to play as the villian for a couple levels.

In Lord of the Rings: Conquest (PS3), you have the option of playing on the side of Sauron. The campaign itself is called "Rise of Sauron". Pretty fun if you are a fan of the Lord of the Rings.

Fable series - just pick the evil choices, slaughter the innocent villagers, wreck stores, kill guards, rack up a bounty on your head, etc.

Evil Genius is a RTS style game I got my money out of. It was pretty cheap ($10?) And I've logged around 100 hours in it. Basically, you take over the world.

Dragon age: Origins has a DLC called: The darkspawn chronicles. Where you play a hurlock commander in an alternate universe where the main grey warden died at the ritual. Resulting in alister having to lead. I thought it was a great idea. It was well executed as well.

The 3 games I can think of where choices affect your alignment are:
*Shadow the Hedgehog
You can be a total prick in each level but ultimately he saves the day anyway when you unlock all the endings. All Shadow does in each level is constantly remind the player who he is and in some endings, he turns into a complete maniac. In-game graphics are sub-par, but cutscenes are eye-orgasmingly beautiful. For a PS2 game.
*Infamous
Again, gameplay is choice based and you unlock abilities depending on whether you'rea a White Knight or a total cunt. I think Infamous 2 is pretty much the same.
*and the Fable series
Never played them myself but a review by Yahtzee was enough for me.

wat about darkness and darkness 2I never played the first Darkness game, but the demo for the sequel was fun as hell.
Also, I figure Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City would probably count for this thread when it releases. I mean, afterall, you control a group of mercenaries under working for the Umbrella corporation and can kill off one of the main heroes in the RE series at some point in the campaign.
