A survey eh? For Visual Novels I'll fill this anytime!
1) Protagonist with complete sprites; I'd rather immerse myself in the story rather than seeing it as 'myself'. But if it's between eyeless protagonist sprites to no sprites I'll take no sprites because good god it looks horrible.
2) Close to a hundred I guess, there are a lot that I didn't complete 100% though (not worth the effort for its crappy quality).
3) When I download a VN, I usually look for guaranteed conflicts. I look for Dark/Fantasy/Sci-Fi themes that portray strong moral conflicts; as such I am a fan of Nitroplus' works. Those are just plain epic (Although I haven't started on Steinsgate). I look for a VN that offers me new worlds and laws to explore. I dislike pure love VNs because most of them are of horrendous quality, save for some like Clannad and Kanon. ToHeart was also a special exception (First time I felt like nosebleeding over an pure love ero scene). I cannot understand why people would like Da Capo.
4) None too big. I bought a terabyte of external for exactly this purpose lawl.
5) True. This question is pointless I guess; everyone chooses stuff to their own preferences.

7) True. Again, redundant question.
8) Not sure what you mean. Sexual fetishes? Rape, Unawares (Henshin Henshin as an example), Degeneration. A man's dark fantasies lawl.
9) False. How could you know the character's personalities before even reading the story? There are VNs however which I decided not to repeat after a first playthrough because the characters are horribly generic.
10) Bland, generic, indecisive, over-stereotyping.
11) The only ones I've chosen to follow are Cradle Song and Katawa Shoujo. The others are not worth checking or discontinued after some time.
12) A lot. I've followed Katawa Shoujo for years; just didn't write a fan fiction for it.
13) No. There are a tonne of low quality English VNs out there, true; but Katawa Shoujo and Cradle Song (WIP) are some of the absolute best (among the English community) I've read.
14) All of your specification are exactly the reason I'll play them lawl. I would prefer not to play pure love VNs, but that's most because they have a poor storyline. Yes, if a VN has a bland/generic/utterly stupid/illogical storyline that just plain sucks I'll not bother with it. Most of this horrendous qualities can be identified right away from their sypnosis; and there's always reviews to check up.
15) Other than the fact your title is disturbingly similar to Higurashi, no. But it's always good if you can come up with something that'll surprise us in a good way.
16) No, but the breasts on the right portrait looks fake.

18) Not Canadian. Actually, I don't think it's a good idea to restrict an event to its country; people celebrate things differently from each other.

It's a fan installment to When They Cry. The original art was actually quite like that, except the sprites had a... "unique" style

5. I will try any kind of VN whether it appeals to my tastes or not. So yes I will download them. But downloading and trying doesn't mean I will play through the VN entirely.

15. Nice and clean. I like my title screens to be simple and to the point, with not trouble finding the things I want. The leaves in that are a little bit clustered, I would prefer them to be a bit more thinned out around where the selection buttons are.

17. I'm Canadian myself, but I'm against having anything distinctly Canadian for attire (ie. red/white all around, flag etc.). If your characters are Canadian, then just have them wear what you would wear for winter. It's not like we're a bunch of raving, self-important, nationalists. Would you wear your national colours and flag out on a regular day?
On the other hand, if you're set on having the characters wear winter clothes, just make them wear heavier jackets, gloves, and toques. Maybe a scarf or two wouldn't hurt.
Personally, for me, I wear a down jacket (like this, but with a hood), scarf, and leather gloves. I dislike wearing anything on my head except for earmuffs. A lot of people also wear winter boots, but I don't like them cause they are clunky, so I just wear runners/trainers that are waterproof (eg. leathery materials).

I think it's ok if he doesn't appear in most scenes, but it would also be refreshing otherwise. I don't mind a faceless protagonist, but generally if he's not bad looking I would prefer he has a face.

13. Do you mean officially translated ones? I feel some of them are but not in comparison to the untranslated version of the same vn. It’s simply a matter of officially translated titles often being not all that great in the first place. There are exceptions of course. Lately, some decent titles have been/are being localized. A bit is lost in translation, as with anything, but it doesn’t make the titles inferior to the originals, just different. The same can be said for fan translated ones. As for what would make me play them, plot namely...

15. Don’t care for the green dots much on the buttons but overall it gives a nice impression. Feels lonely and mysterious while also reminding me of summer.

17. Those Russian hats. I love those hats.. But I guess this is about Canada. Toques are where it’s at. Knitted ones with silly patterns on em. Also muffer/scarfs I suppose. As for coats, iunno, same as American coats. I live in Canada and I don’t see much of a difference in winter attire to be honest but the climate varies by location as Canada’s really big :D The coat design should more relate to the characters personality I would think.

Then again, it could also be used when someone is entering the building to investigate a disturbance or something as the building gives off an eerie feel, more so than anything else in the scene.
