VNs with ONLY Pure Love Story
What do you think about them?

"My point is VNs that only have love as the main story"
Yes, that's what I understood you wanted to define as "Pure Love game", but that's not it. It can't even be described by the word genre. A game is either a Pure Love game or it is not. It only describes the relationship of the protagonist and respective heroine of a route, meaning the protagonist is only fixated on one heroine and the absence of hardcore elements like Netorare/Netori, Rape, Polygamy etc.
For your doubts about FSN, I think it's the epitome of Pure Love. O_o
A protagonist falling into unwavering love with a heroine, fighting for her sake and even sacrificing himself? Ahem, I peg your pardon.
Though you are right about the love story beeing a bit meager in UBW.
Same for Tsukihime.
Phew.
Well, all I want to say is that you misunderstood what the term "Pure Love" in relation to VN and Eroges means. Pretty pointless discussion I know. Sorry for wasting your time...
What this thread is meant to be dedicated to are actually these generic School/Everyday Life Comedies where nothing else happens besides the usual daily events until the scene with your heroine of choice.
I actually like these kind of uneventful VNs with minor drama part and a bit silly comedy. HinataBokko would be a good example for translated VNs of this kind.

I Clearly said in the first post that we're talking about "VNs that only has Love in it's Story content"
we're not talking about The Definition of Pure love of a certain character
and Once again It's not about a The unwavering Love of the Character of The VN that we're talking about, but the VN itself that has Love as it's main theme.
I have never said once that we're talking about the feeling of love of a certain character.
so, basically you're the one that misunderstood this thread.
I already got your point, but I just need to fix the facts about this thread.

The use of the expression "Pure Love" might be misleading indeed but i understand what you both are trying to say.
The focus of this thread is about 'love" relationships between characters and how it develops through the whole game. So basically, games that "talk" a lot without much action.

Well, the thing that muddles the issue most for me is Kaimax's prohibition on high drama for this supposed genre, which eliminates pretty much all Key games, which are otherwise nothing but slice-of-life romances, and are among (if not the) most critically acclaimed VN of all.

Yes, I purposely restricting those Vns from this current discussion is just for the purpose of getting a clear answer without getting biased by other VNs. :D
And I don't really care if it's the most critically acclaimed VN of all. If it doesn't fit in this threads main discussion, then it shouldn't be discussed at all.
"Can a KEY VN apply a Love story without excessive use of Sad plot stories?"
I'm just trying tof find an objective answers from this discussion. :D

And in that case, I shall stand by my initial statement, that pure love can be entertaining fluff, but in order to have lasting appeal it needs to be a 1-2 punch with some other element of drama/comedy/action.
Perhaps one of my favorite romance anime, and it might even qualify as pure love, is Kimikiss Pure Rouge, but what makes it so great is that it's not just romance, but it's a massive clusterfuck of love triangles, which was a giant breath of fresh air from the tired harem genre. (three different guys are capable of garnering feminine affection, all attending the same school? MADNESS!!!) Kimikiss was also heavy on coming of age elements which may or may not go above and beyond the scope of discussion.

I find it extremely difficult to pick out VNs that are just "Pure Love". From a technical standpoint, I would define a "Pure Love" VN as a story that has essentially no plot twist or mechanics and the only development taking place in the story is love between the protagonist and one of the girls. As Yeah321 has said, the majority of the story is expressed through character interactions rather than the world around them. Of course there will be at least some drama between 1 or more characters, but how much drama is considered too much?
Anyways, back to the original question, I think that VNs with just a pure love story are really underrated/not appreciated. Sure they can be boring at times cause nothing surprising, shocking or intriguing happens, but just the overall slice of life feeling and calm (or in some cases, the comedy) can be quite heartwarming. Stories don't necessarily need to have an amazing plot to touch the reader, it is sometimes the innocence (even with all the H) in the story that connects the reader to the characters.
BTW, if some of what I wrote didn't make sense, complain to me later, I'll try to clarify. I wrote this at midnight while trying to study for exams so...

The only routes in Clannad that I think that qualifies for this discussion:
-Kyou route
Pure Love VNs it's easy.
-To Heart 2
and mostly "slice-of-Life" Vns, eventhough it's Sex oriented.

From what I've played, which are limited to Do You Like Horny Bunnies, The Sagara Family and Amorous Professor Cherry, the stories seem a bit far-fetched, but slice-of-life nonetheless and not to mention quite sex oriented.
Aside from the ones that have already been mentioned in this thread, Hinatabokko is the only other "Pure Love" VN that I've played. Or at least that I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.

if you said it like that... i can't help agree with it...
i try to search a mostly slice-of-life VN that i have played...
and i like all of it..
-Brass Restoration
-Yume Miru Kusuri
-wanko to kurasou
yup, i highly appreciate a pure love story VN~!

I feel the reason they are underappreciated is because they come across as cliche. Like you said Kaimax, these were the "founding fathers" of eroge VN and it is hard to make a good story that hasn't been done before. Not saying that it isn't possible or that there aren't good ones out, but compared to some VN coming out more recently, the level for drama and good story telling has made many VN that focus on only romance seem like a dating sim or a boring story.
The good VN that focus on "Pure Love" (BTW care to define that better in the OP?) just get lumped in with the rest as cliche.

"A VN that doesn't involve other "extreme" story elements to build a romantic story."
:D
basicaly your normal Ren'ai games (Dating sims like Tokimeki Memorial)
My problem with this is: "They don't get the same treatment as "more dramatic" VNs"
People get biased by them, and simply shove away simple stories, even though it's just as good as the rest.
and what makes it worst that, People start judging "Based on" the level of drama, not by individual judgment, even though these "Pure love" Vns excels on a different type.

Perhaps it is because most people start off with "pure love" VN (is that an actual term or did you make that up? -__-) like Tokimeki memorial or something I found on my bf PC Tokimeki Check-In, or probably the most played Ren'ai game of all time - Sim Girl on Newgrounds. So when they play more VN they look back on those simplier stories as a time of immaturity.
An analogy would be how young people first start drinking alcohol they are like "hell ya! Budwiser is the best!" then you get older and see someone else drinking budwiser and say "what are you? A college frat boy? Drink some Dos Equis like a man!" Thus, the orignals are looked down upon and scoffed at. Reviewers snub them because thats only what a newbie to the VN scene would play.

I should have used Ren'Ai games, huh? :D

yeah, I know that kind of Analogy, but trying to be unbiased in a biased world is painful X(

Ren ai refers to dating non-eroge games though, an eroge can be about love too though so no I think "pure love" is a nice term. I just never heard it before and didn't want to go to another site using it and people be like "WTF are you talking about?"
But yeah, I think there are a bunch of spammed out eroge with a cliched story that is an excuse for porn. I also think it is sad how VNs with a good romantic story are seen as inferior because of the genre they are in.

When I feel like fapping, I don't read the story too much... I just grab some small sized ero VNs and skip through the dialogue.
When I'm in the mood to play VNs for the story, I try to put myself in the shoes of the main character and, if the story is good, I find myself often touched. But the only VNs I really appreciate are the ones with a PURE LOVE story. Why? Because in real life such a wonderfull and intense feeling of love has an extremely low chance of having a happy ending and, in most cases, it either fades away or is not shared by both lovers. Seeing as such pure and unconditioned love does not "survive" in real life, I find myself wanting to "feed" my soul with such feelings, and pure love VNs/animes/movies are the main course for me, in this matter.
And no other VN, anime or movie has ever touched me more than, that's right!, Clannad!!! Needless to say, it has the most wonderfull pure love story I've ever seen or read, and will probably ever do so.

Except if you've been reading, Clannad is too melodramatic to be considered for this discussion. Everyone likes Key, so that's not what we're talking about.

At any rate, what I said before that statement refers to my general feeling towards pure love stories. In the last bit, I just had to mention Clannad :D
