The funny thing is Wanko is not considered a nakige.Well, it's true. My only guess is that someone will need many tissues on the upcoming future if you know what I mean lol

Should we consider the death/bad endings of 999 for the DS? Especially the Sub ending?

My reaction for that part, is just "WTF?!, who killed me?"
But 999 isn't a nakige, it isn't designed to tear jerk you to death, but mind fuck you to death.

Point taken. Guess it was just me who felt a little sad at "her" death.
What about that bad ending of Phoenix Wright 2? The one with the typo.

Of course, since I don't have a NDS, I only have a PSP.
Any more portable devices = Dust Collector
NDS emulators are decent enough anyway

Has no one yet say Muv Luv Alternative? That is hands down a sad ending in my opinion. In either case... that is the only one that comes to mind.

Has there been a VN, more particulary an ending [route] that almost had you in tears for whatever reason? Be it because it was sad, emotionally beautiful or hopeful etc.Fate/Stay Night: Fate route had me crying at the end.
Yume Miru Kusuri (A Drug that Makes You Dream): It was the only boring route of the 3, but had the best ending. The only thing to this day that has made me cry cause it was emotionally beautiful ending.
Clannad: More than one route had me crying at the end.
Kanon: Nayuki's route.
Utawarerumono: Only 1 end, and had me crying.
Planetarian ~The Reverie of a Little Planet~:Nothing's made me cry harder than this game.

Oh That? i haven't "heard" of that tag but it seems i've played a few of the games in that category. the most recent one was ef - a fairy tale of the two.
I was planning on playing Ever17 -the out of infinity- next since i've seen it being at the tops of peoples list.
But on your and Kaimax's earlier comments, the only reason Wanko hit me like it did, is my cat is basically at the end of its "expected" life and i'm one of those people that gets attached to animals. But most of the Nakige category games i've played Have indeed choked me up, but never left me in tears.

A lot of people don't seem to mention it, probably because you follow the villain and there is a lot of action, but Hanachirasu is pretty tragic. To see things spiral out of control due to the rash actions of people and to see an individual so consumed by revenge just for all of it to end how it does. If you take one of the optional endings its also kind of tragic to know that it didn't have to be that way, it could have gone differently. Then there is also that absurd joke ending that made me chuckle. So yeah, I say go for Hanachirasu. I also second the many mentions of Saya no Uta, and Planetarian ~Reverie of a Little Planet~. All three of these are really short and really good.

You should tried Private Nurse that have a sad endingyou beat me to it on that one. Of course the first route i tried was the route you most likely speak of. Didnt make me cry just made me sit there and stare at the screen upset.

> The theme of Muv-Luv Alternative is to "shit happens, deal with it and move on"
> The protagonist deserved the ending.
> The ending was supposed to be bittersweet, not sad. It was supposed to be Takeru's last coming of age, realization of what it is to be a soldier.

You just answered why nobody mentione Muv-Luv alternative.
Because, honestly there are other VNs that is much sadder. Those VNs basically overshadows Muv-Luv's tear jerk level.

Yes. Muv-Luv Alternative still ranks top for Shock scene though. I was eating chips and drinking milk while reading that scene, spitted it all out on my keyboard.
Also, playing Altered Fable (Not translated, I'm fluent) makes you feel MUCH better. It reminds you of the old times, when you were playing through Extra and you deeply miss those peaceful times.

Shin Koihime Musou Gi Route is pretty sad as well, it doesn't help very much that its the only faction with a sad ending in the game and that Sousou is my favorite character
