I lose interest in reading it within 10 minutes if I don't like it.I think that you may want to revise this method since as I'm sure you know, there's no way you can judge how really good a determined VN is with 10 minutes of reading. You can miss a lot of masterpieces using that kind method.

Okay. I actually read Kimi ga nozomu eien, (Pretty much read anything age relelated), but I'll check out Muramasa. I'll also invest at least 1 hour from now to see whether I like it or not

Still, 1 hour isn't much of an improvement over 10 minutes if you ask me. After all, even really short VN's can take quite a few hours. Besides who says you have to blow by a title? You can just take it slow or whatever.

I'm quite new when it comes to visual novels and eroge and I've only played and finished three. Currently the best for me is G-Senjou no Maou, I love almost everything about it. The characters were very easy to relate to, the soundtrack arrangements and compositions are superb, and the setting and plot is very well constructed.

Mod Note: As I am unable to access the merge function at the moment, I will be moving this topic to the Visual Novels and Eroge section. Once the merge function is back up, I will combine the relevant threads together.

Those are some rather older titles there. I can't agree with your choices of top VNs, but meh, to each their own. I won't comment on the H-RPG choices since I haven't played Persiom and Avaron.

I prefer the old games over new. Recent VNs are all the same, just that the art is different, they couldn't catch my interest.
As for my top 3, i'm still wondering who Maria was xD maybe i should replay PN.

I could probably understand your sentiment because I have a soft spot for some of the old VNs too (They feel like a different genre or something) but ultimately I gun for good storylines, which I can't say the same for old games. Either too much grind or too classic. And Tsukihime needs a remake because it definitely deserves one lol.
Although that is absolutely no reason to let Nasu drag on Tsukihime's sequel any longer. >_> Just when the hell is it going to come out...

The question is, "What "newer" VNs that couldn't catch your interest?" MAybe you're just looking at the wrong ones.

Ashita no Kimi to Au Tame Ni.
I thought it had a solid and rather believable love story, told rather simply. Even though, I can't shake off the feeling that that eroge is half completed.
It is hard for me to associate eroge with a solid story. Perhaps, I can find good stories in eroge that combines fantasy elements and romance but I think it is not that desirable a mix.
As for Key games, they are either too complicated or too surreal for my liking.

At the moment I can't remember the names, but I'm fairly certain that there are quite a number of Good Story + Fantasy Visual Novels out there. Perhaps you should invest some time into searching them.
Oh right, Type-Moon's latest VN 锿³•使ã„ã®å¤œ is not an eroge, but should fit your criteria.

A lot of newer VN are very well written, in addition to having better audio and visual quality. It's a couple of years old, but G-Senjou no Maou is a good example of this in my opinion. Another title would be Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai; as the story is just about high school life (albeit with martial arts), it still feels fresh and new, not to mention hilarious.
