When you have the choice, do you play as a male or female?
Do you play as a male or female?

I'm a male, and I play as a female in games because it's something different from the real world. Plus, I'd rather spend a whole game staring at a girl's butt instead of a guy's.

I usually play as a girl if it is one player (like Mass Effect). I don't play many one player games though. However, on MMOs I play as a guy. I just like them more most of the time because I find it more ammusing.
For Example!
In WoW, I used a male orc because the idea of being a giant green hulk sounded more fun than pretending to be a sexy night elf.
In Civ 5, being Napoleon is a lot more badass then being the slut Catherine the great of Russia.
I actually get some complaints for playing as a guy in WoW. They aren't straight up complaints, but I do get people asking why I don't just play as a girl because there isn't enough girl characters that are girls irl.

Also, the clothing designs are so much better for females in most games, especially in Aion.

Its depends on the game I guess. In KOTOR 2 I all ways play as a female. As in KOF I will always be the males.

In all my games, I always play the male. Usually a war-torn soldier with a tragic past who assumes the mantle of destiny in order to save the world. Or a complete and utter asshole who cuts down anybody who gets in his way.
In MMORPGs, however, I like playing females.

I almost always play as a male initially (for the first play-through or for my first character) but I admittedly then usually delve into the female possibilities, particularly if there's gratuitous amounts of scantily-clad attire and fanservice.

I'm a male and It depends upon the look of the female character when choosing a gender, usually i scout as a male in the beginning in MMORPGs, When it comes to other gaming consoles, still female, there were just times that i usually switch to male character just to finish something i cannot accomplish in female mode. So it goes.. still for perversion, the less armor she equips or should i say the more showy it would be, the more i become motivated.

I play which ever fits my style. Some femme toons just got the stats and the style that male toons don't.
But then there are games like Dungeon and Fighter and Vindictus that are just gender/character locked.
So I vote neither options.

For me at least, it depends on the genre of the game.
For fighting games, for the most part, I chose female characters because they are usually fast and nimble, and also have quick combos.
For RPGs, I usually tend to go with the males due to their strength and high HP.

I am a female and I always play as a female. :) I've never played as a male given the choice unless I play an eroge or a VN which has a default male lead.

It depends on my mood at the time of creation. it really doesn't matter to me which one i play as. the only thing that can influence my choice is if stats differ between the genders.
When i was playing WoW, i noticed a difference in the way other players treated me when i played as both genders. out and about as a female, dudes would just hand me crap, or come to help if i was outnumbered by mobs. in dungeons, i got yelled at more, even though i played the same.
also, some dudes flipped out and statred calling me names when they found out i'm male IRL.
i abstain from the poll as there is no option for both.
