Where/How do I find the image files?
0
I'm searching a couple of PS2 discs (Ar Tonelico 1 & 2), and I can't seem to find any image files, even encrypted types.
http://artonelico.ar-ciel.org/wiki/index.php/Ar_tonelico_2_retranslation/Tools
According to this, I'm searching for .fp, .lzr, and .tm2 extensions, but I can't find any of them in the games files and folders.
Any help on where I can find them?

Not too knowledgeable about this, but it sounds like the files are probably packaged within another file type. Shouldn't their forum have some information on extracting these things?

Not too knowledgeable about the games in question but are the games dual disc or is each game contained on one disc?
depending on that you might have to hunt for a different file name. Its a space thing [the timing of the last event in-game. For example they set it up so you don't have to change disc right in the middle of a major boss fight] though I haven't done much datamining on the ps2 discs I heard that was the main reason different file types were used [most blue discs and early/middle dvdformats] though now I'm not as sure...

How do I check?
If it helps, in the first, all the files and folders add up to 2.7GB, and for the second, 4.07GB.

So you are saying that Ar tonelico 1 is 2.7gb and the second game is 4.07gb.
Neither game is multidisc? I've searched and saw no information about how many discs each game has [guessing since it is a jrpg]. Sorry about this, I honestly have never heard of this game till I saw your post here. Though I suppose that wouldn't matter much because I think the files that you need are hidden [more like invisible to everyone but ps2] within the disc.
Anyway, I've had to rehunt this site down. I know it covers ripping the video but I think because of how you said you couldn't find the TIM2 files makes me believe that the content is hidden. Its basically the ps2 way to dodge pirating though there are ways to get them as the method that they use to hide vids within the game are the same methods they use to hide everything else [while still making it playable on the system]

Do you have a few screenshots of the file structure? Like a screenshot of your explorer just displaying the folders. You might have to find the compressed hidden files then uncompress them to grab the images. I'm not sure on how much this link will work for you other than the whole finding unseen stuff part.
Worse possible thing you might have to do is go in and open EVERY event file and search for when the images you need are being called into the game. By far the Ninja Gaiden of Nightmares.

Hmm, I'll try that. As for the file structure, no, I don't have any screenshots, but I can list the tree for the folder:
├─Ar Tonelico 1 Data
│ │ │ ├─MODULES
│ │ │ ├─MOVIE
│ │ │ │ ├─BLST
│ │ │ │ ├─CS
│ │ │ │ ├─CSL
│ │ │ │ ├─ED
│ │ │ │ ├─EFF
│ │ │ │ ├─EVENT
│ │ │ │ ├─MBG
│ │ │ │ ├─OP
│ │ │ │ └─STEREO
│ │ │ ├─SOUND
│ │ │ │ ├─SSE
│ │ │ │ └─STREAM
│ │ │ ├─VPACK
│ │ │ └─VPACKJ
│ │ ├─Ar Tonelico 2 Data
│ │ │ ├─ERXS
│ │ │ ├─MODULES
│ │ │ ├─MOVIE
│ │ │ │ ├─3D
│ │ │ │ │ └─OMAKE
│ │ │ │ ├─CS

│ │ │ │ └─IS
│ │ │ ├─SOUND

The VPACK and VPACKJ folders are the most likely to have them, but they stand for Video Pack and... Video Pack J? Possibly Japan.

Actually, I did a little reading on the production and from what I saw, they took out half of the japanese voice work in the game to make room for the american voice work. Which is very weird because the published NA version of the game [which I am guessing is what you have now] has both american voice overs and the left over half of the japanese voice overs they didn't bother to remove.
The file struct looks a bit odd, it looks as if the second game is within the first one lol. I'mma do a little more digging. My hunch about the images being hidden might be right. Though that's odd that they left the videos untouched...
