* You realize that controlling the character is a fuckin nightmare.
* The camera is your worst enemy in the game.
* Having the story spoiled (basically Stylish-End said).
* All the worlds/levels is repetive.
* Retarded AI, which maybe wouldn't be such a problem if the AI weren't on your team (lol Dead Rising).

the things that I said up there usually happens in online games.
as for offline games :
when the main caracter dies{rarely happens}.
when the story and gameplay are boring.
when you lost your one and only chance to get the strongest items.
when you're in several fights you can't possibly win, FOREVER.

*when someone starts mocking you.
*when someone is using an OP caracter.

worst example i can remember, NBA Jams. if you got too much of a lead, the other team can't miss, and your team can't hit nine out of ten shots. or many racing games. spend days learning all the lines of a track, get it down, but intead of lapping the rest of npcs, they're glued to your back bumper.
when it leads you by the nose, more of an interactive story than an actual game.
