Your favorite old school games you missed out on originally

We all have our favorite games, and there are bound to be ones from each of your lists that stand out from the rest for one reason or another, myself included. For me personally, the ones that stand out the most are games that first came out when I was young, but I was unable to play for whatever reason.
As the title picture suggests, I never played Chrono Trigger when it first came out. I didn't own an SNES growing up, and I never looked into the game until a few months ago when a friend told me about it and what I've been missing. It sounded really cool, so I bought the DS version and starting playing it. I was officially addicted to it, and couldn't stop playing. It was just plain awesome, and I'm so glad I finally managed to play it. Better late than never, I guess.
So I'm curious about those who have similar experiences to mine in which you missed out on a game, played it much later on, and ended up loving the hell out of it. I look forward to your responses, over and out :)

Pretty much every Legend of Zelda before Twilight Princess. I never knew about any future Nintendo Console after NES. After NES someone showed me Wii lol.

Earthbound is the game that I regret not playing during my childhood, the only reson I've ever played it is because one of my friends recommended it to me knowing that I'm really into RPG's.

The first Final Fantasy game. I played it on 1995(I remember FFVI was only months old) and fell in love with the genre ever since. The simple, yet inspiring characters and story, the music. I still love it to this day.
I haven't played Earthbound nor Zelda Oracle of Time/Seasons yet, so my opinion may differ in the future.

Super Mario RPG for the SNES. None of my parents or my friends' parents would buy it because 'it was just another Mario game' and we already had all the others... Imagine my surprise the first time I played it in an emulator and then I met someone who had an actual SNES with a physical copy of the game... I was so excited. <3

Azure Dreams for the PlayStation, since that's old school now. I feel so old.
I haven't even heard of it until I read a Let's Play of it, but I love it. The art style is what one would expect from the '90s Japanese animation, but I can deal with it.

[color=red]Mine's Vagrant Story. Didn't know Squaresoft released that game back then (2000). Got the game at 2008 and I'm still have the PSX CDrom. Loved the battle system, the story, and the weapon crafting system.

All the Final Fantasy games before VII. I bought 1-6 after I played 7-9 when they came out on PS1, except for III which didn't come out until the DS.

I've never played a Devil May Cry game until I borrowed my roommate's HD collection and his copy of DMC 4. Am currently playing them in chronological order, starting with DMC3. Only half-way through the game and I'm finding it pretty damn fun.
