FX 8350 (8Core) and ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX
FX 6300 and any 990fx mobo that suits your fany

i7 4770k and a z87 mobo
i5 4670k and a z87 mobo

You have a huge budget for your mobo/cpu set so might as well max out what you have. Intel costs a lot, a whole lot... Id go for the FX 8350 since it would work well with your ram which makes it a gaming/rendering machine. Might as well make the most out of it

But in the end, its all up to you which one you choose.

What is the budget you plan to spend on this whole rig youre making anyway?

I'd go for a core i5 K variant at the least to overclock the CPU. Max settings with a lot of mods really bog you down. Just keep in mind the 2xxx and the 3xxx series use the same socket while the new 4xxx series are on a new socket. Same with some of the i7 series.

I'm not really sure the advantages of the new 4xxx series other than new features in the microcode. I'd check Tom's hardware CPU section for best CPU for the money and make your decision based on their guidelines.

As for the motherboard I can't really make any recommendations other than to make sure you get the right socket. The features on the motherboard basically all come down to personal taste on what inputs and outputs you want available. If anything I suggest visiting the manufacturer's support page before you decide on the board and see if it looks like they are keeping the board up to date. I know with my Asus board they haven't provided any updated drives in a long while but at least they keep updating the firmware. The drivers are generic intel and realtek anyways that I can find on their sites. Most boards come with two PCIe slots so you can SLI/Xfire if you decide to in the future.

I know the Asus ROG boards look really cool but they come at a premium price.

Congratulations sir you just added another VN to my increasingly large to do list under the category of "this shit is really fucked up". I'll probably give it a try if the visual novel has more going for it than playing surgeon.

G-seeker.net is pretty useful for walkthroughs on VNs:Walkthrough, it's all in Japanese but for the most part just match up the characters to each choice for the one you see in the game.
