He told Naruto that he should take advantage of his monstrous mana capacity by trying to control them in right amounts everytime he uses a jutsu (with explanation help from Ebisu). He gave Naruto inspiration for creating Rasen Shuriken using kagebunshins to "look left and right at the same time". And he always trying to calm Naruto down everytime Naruto wants to jump right on the enemy's face and get into trouble.

The only things that make him not suited to be Naruto's personal teacher is because he doesn't have powers to restrain Naruto if he uses too much chakra and go zerk, like Yamato, and his jutsus' type and characteristic isn't suited for Naruto (and Naruto doesn't have Sharingan so he couldn't teach Chidori to him) but more to Sasuke that's why Jiraiya's the one who teached Naruto instead of Kakashi. And Jiraiya's training method is more suitable for Naruto so Kakashi being a good teacher let Naruto trained with Jiraiya so he can become strong faster. If you say he's not a good teacher for Naruto, then is he also not a good teacher for Sakura? Then what should he do, become Sasuke's personal pimp?
