Winter's Best 2009 (Top 5)
So...?

Since the Spring season is just around the corner, (earlier, while I was gathering info on some new titles) tsujoi's idea from not so long ago struck me. Among this Winter's batch of series you've seen, what did you guys like/enjoy best?
I didn't include reoccurring titles so don't bother asking where's Clannd After Story, Toradora, Gundam 00 S2, etc, etc... just refer to the topic title and you'd see why. (I'm certain that either one of these 3 would get the most votes if ever they were included) - thank GOD they began on last year's Fall/Autumn. :P
* Web shorts, OVAs, and Movies are also NOT included.
and apparently, there's a "poll-option limit" as well.
Here are my Top 5 favorites:
1. White Album
2. RideBack
3. Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou
4. Hajime no Ippo New Challenger
5. ...still undecided; (it's just the fifth slot anyway)
So in the end, despite the fuck that happened with its animation, I still chose WA; mainly for its unique and well developed storyline, that kept me begging for more. I have nothing bad to say about RB (in fact, I had a tough time deciding) - perhaps it was just a little bit too short.
Hope you guys could take part in this poll. Everyone's more than welcome to participate, even "lurkers." (for the Love of Anime) and for the Record.
...
* The results shall have bearing on the selection of which will later be recognized as
FAKKU!'s Choice - ANIME of the Year (2009). :P
ps:
I left the poll "open" for those undecided. There's no need to rash, just make sure that you wouldn't regret your choice later on.
(if you couldn't tell, I'm quite serious about this) 8)

Well, what have we here, this is a difficult decision indeed. I mean I could name my favorite 5 from the Winter season, but ranking them in order that's the tough part. Here goes nothing, nano desu.
1. Of course, White Album tied with Rideback I can't choose one over the other, maybe once an ending becomes clear, or at least something significant happens to sway me.
2. Get's taken by which ever doesn't get the number 1 slot
3. Gonna go with Asu no Yoichi, I mean a love comedies especially with harems, and if there done right(unlike Akikan!) then they win. I know I've said many times how I dislike there adaptations swaying a bit from the manga, but the art and main plot still keep me interested, I really have been loving this series.
4. Chrome Shelled Regios, I don't know exactly whats keeping me interested or why I love this show, prob just Felli since she's pure win.
5. Minami-ke Okaeri, Comedy, Slice of Life, all Minami-ke has ever been is just random episodes of goodness, which is why I always come back for moar!
*(stuff that is also awesome that is right there on the edge of 5 but just can't quite reach: Birdy Decode S2, Maria+Holic, Sora Kake Girl)*

I have just one, Sora Kake Girl. It uses pretty much everything that was bad (and some good stuff too) with Geass and Gundam as a whole, and makes it intentionally funny.
Everything else on the list I either didn't watch, or I felt like I would never watch it a second time.

Among these anime series I've only watched/tried to watch 6, 1 was recommended to me because the story is good but I'm somewhat picky about what I want to watch and that particular recommendation is not my type -_-
but anyways, here's my top 5 series.(or more like top 3)
1.Chrome Shelled Regios - I like MC/protagonists that are strong/special
2.Akikan - I want some comedy romance
3.Hajime no Ippo ~NC~ - I liked the S1; I'll be sure to like this more
4....
5.Don't know... could be between Kurokami/Asu no Yoichi

Due to my watching style that mixes currently running shows with completed ones and re-watches, I've only experienced 5 or 6 from the list altogether so I'm gonna simply name those few that I decided to follow and still highly enjoy.
1. Rideback : Stunning quality, interesting concept and not a second of wasted screentime. It's a Madhouse.
2. Birdy S2 : Not up-to-date on this one but in awe nevertheless.
To think that I was hesitant in picking up season 1 a few weeks ago ...
3. Maria+Holic : Has it's ups and downs but never fails to leave a banana-like smile on my face. Taking pervertedness to a whole new awesome level.
Sora Kake, White Album and Regios are waiting for me to pick them up and I have little doubt I'm gonna like them.
~Very nice topic idea

I really hate having to start a series from the frist air date. I usally wait a while to watch and then fly though the episodes real quick till I reach current episodes or the end of the series. So I can't say any right now i'll watch later if I hear good things.

I've already made a choice. Isn't about time for you guys (who haven't yet) do the same? The Spring season has officially made its rounds and so far I daresay that we're all having a blast with the new batch of animes on our hands. But let's not completely forget about the past season which certainly did entertain us to an extent. 8)
@Gambler
I'm still patiently waiting for you to grace this thread with your presence and opinion. I'm quite confident though that you'd choose Asu no Yoichi! over anything else. :P
you gave me your word... and I still have the proof!

Well I originally stated that either WA or Rideback, now that the winter show are done, some of them, I still strongly vote for Rideback, mostly on the basis that it did end, I mean winter anime winner should (imo) be a series that aired only in winter, thou that is not to say WA is worthy of something nano desu, the last episode of this season definitely revived my love for it *of course I have to say animation, animation, animation, nano desu* but I give 1st to Rideback and 2nd to White Album nano desu, I stick by my previous 3-5

You guys are probably gonna hate me for this but I just have to let you know my opinion.
Of the 2 most often spoken of here (White Album and Rideback), I liked neither of them. White album probably has a very good story and the artwork and soundtrack were awesome but I like my realistic anime to be somewhat realistic. This anime is like a documentary on K-Fed being with Britney Spears and I find that kind of stuff repulsive.
As for Rideback, I wasn't really drawn in by the artwork at all. To me it seemed like there was no uniqueness to the drawings and the overuse of CG definitely turned me off. The concept of the show though is definitely interesting but I just cant get past the art barrier.
As for the other shows - I haven't had the time to get around to them yet. College only allowed me a little bit of time to watch anime and I was already watching 3 ongoing shows as well as watching some already finished shows that some friends recommended. But now that all of my shows are completed I might be able to sample some of them. This spring season doesn't really have much that interests me except FMA2 and some OVAs so now I'm hit with an abundance of free time.

I could really care less about neither what you didn't like and what you didn't watch; though as for your opinion, the open minded person that I am wouldn't really mind, but I seriously don't care about it either. Of course, we all have our different views on things and we have freedom to express those. BUT there are times where it's still better off not doing so for the sake of courtesy. (and in forums such as this) - for the sake of being on topic, which you obviously failed to realize, one way or another. To phrase it, this topic is about the "winter series" (you've seen) that we/you "liked" best. I'm conducting a survey/poll to find out which one did the majority of anime viewers (at FAKKU!) enjoyed the most. So there you go, I simply felt that I needed to tell you that since your post was something quite unnecessary; not that insulting, but as the thread creator, it's my responsibility to look after the discussion and the thread itself as a whole. 8)
And seriously, WTF?! If you haven't seen the series that far enough to have a decent overview on it - you don't fucking make assumptions such as this, as it only proves to show your ignorance about it. This is what I mostly found insulting! (esp since I like that series very much) - Let me tell you; you're miserably mistaken. If that was meant to be a joke - NO! it wasn't even funny at all.

Enough with the blackmailing... Here I am now! :D
In any case, your prediction was correct. Asu no Yoichi will be my pick for the best anime title of the Winter 2008/2009 season, especially since I am a sucker for fanservice shows.
Although Akikan did not fare very well on the popularity poll among anime viewers, it did catch my attention, and so did Chrome Shelled Regios.
All in all, I would say that the number of new titles which aired in Winter 2008/2009 were quite limited, and may soon be forgotten as time passes by.
