Metal gear solid VS. Splinter cell
Which do you prefer?

Wanted to do another poll similar to the previous one I did a while back. This time, I wanted to ask people which do they prefer, overall in terms of gameplay and story, between Metal gear solid and Splinter cell.
These 2 franchises are probably the most well known of their genre (stealth/action). The gameplay however in both games are VERY different. Splinter cell focuses on light and shadow, how well light you are= the higher chance of you being spotted.
The metal gear franchise used the radar system for a while, which showed the location of enemies and their sight range. In the 3rd game, they removed the radar and added a camouflage system. Depending on the area and what suit/facepaint you put on, enemies will have higher/lower chances of spotting you. I haven't played the 4th one yet since I don't own a ps3 so there isn't much I can say for it.
But anyway, which of the 2 do you prefer?

I'm really glad I played both, as I enjoy stealth games. Personally, I find MGS superior. I like how they mixed in action, stealth, story, boss battles, and collectibles into a game (I don't know about MGS1 though; does it have collectibles?). SC is all about stealth (action is a given), you die very quickly, and, if you play a level for the first time, it has slow pacing. The replay value of the game suffers because you get to know all the stealth spots and enemy movement. The variety of MGS makes it more fun. Knock someone out in SC and they might as well be dead.

I like MGS more due to the fact that you don't have to replay the mission after you've been spotted opposed to Splinter Cell. But I'm looking forward to the new one, which might be.. revolutionary.

I wrote a whole thing about this, but for some reason it didn't post when I clicked post reply....I'm not gonna write that again so I just say this,
Metal Gear just leaves more of an impact on players. This always ends up ending in Snakes favor, I mean there's a reason why Solid Snake is a well known character and Sam Fisher isn't.

I prefer metal gear Solid ... The stories in MGS games are just more catchy because they are fictional. Lots of Dramatic moments ... an RPG player will love MGS more than Splinter cell every day though XD as for pure gameplay I can't judge...

I like Metal gear better because of MGS2. the storyline was just so awesome, I specially like the ending convo between ottacon and snake. You know, the one after the credits, it freaked me out man.
I never got into SC, too slow paced for me, and I died alot.

The Lord of Butts!
Metal Gear it is for me. I think the whole cast (Bosses,Allies) are way better than Splinter Cells.

Whoa I totally forgot to give my 2 cents about this. Well i agree with some of the things that RBZ mentionned, like metal gear solid having boss fights which Splinter cell doesn't have.
I guess I love splinter cell due to the fact that everything about the gameplay is simple. Your either well hidden and no one can spot you, or your fucked and the alarm goes off (then your superior bitches at you in your earphone, lulz ensue).
I honestly enjoy both games, but overall metal gear is better because I like the story and gameplay. I CAN go back to playing metal gear solid 1 on gamecube anytime, I don't have a problem playing metal gear solid 2 on ps2. The gameplay is always fun. I can't say the same thing about splinter cell though. The gameplay in the 3rd is just so fun that you can't go back to the 2 previous ones because there are somethings that you can't do.
there's also the fact that splinter cell is undeniably easier. Why? The game is divided in levels, and each time you finish a level your health is reset and alarms are back to 0. In metal gear, there is no such thing. You play the game from start to finish. If you triggered an alarm or if a guard spotted you in the previous section, the game simply won't "forget what happened", and you will be punished further on.
tl;dr:

Solid snake can hide in a cardboard box and no one even notice him.How much stealthier can you even get from that lol.
Yeah i prefer MGS,although i do like the new presentation and style of splinter cell conviction. The objectives are projected on buildings kinda thing

is it wrong that the closest I've come to playing ether of those games is seeing solid snake in smash bros.
