Dude, that's pretty good decensoring! How'd you do it?

I followed learnt from a tutorial I found online and had an advantage in using a tablet since redrawing is a little easier when I can use the brush tool like an actual pencil.

The second one looks much better, since the first was missing a few lines that should have been added back in, and have some clone-stamp issue. Were you using the content aware fill on top of normal redrawing?

I'm not an expert on photoshop so I don't know what is content aware fill, but the second one contained a lot more redrawing in the main areas compared to the first one which was mostly clone stamped.

The tones in the first one also demanded clone stamp method compared to the second one where some parts were actually brush shaded by hand.

I dont mean to be an ass, but what you have done here is not hard and could have been done without a tablet. Also Content-Aware Filler is newly introduced option in Photoshop CS5 which you can access by pressing SHIFT-F5 which greatly helps you redraw.I might not be impressed since I work for a scanlation group as a cleaner, but for the average reader this must qualify as pretty nice job.

I don't mind at all about criticisms like this :D

But since I am using a student issued photoshop, I am limited to only using CS4 of the photoshop app unless I actually purchase or obtain the CS5 edition.

Also, I do know that what I have done are by no means difficult since I picked easier ones to try out because this are literally my first 3 attempts at decensoring. I also think that the tablet wasn't essential in all this, but I do feel it made it easier for me to decensor and helped hasten the process a little bit since I am absolutely horrid when it comes to using the mouse to control the brush tool.

All that aside, I sincerely thank you for your opinion as a person who helps in providing awesome manga content :)

I also hope you'd leave me a few pointers on how I can improve my work since I do not have content aware filler.

Also, along with clone stamping, try dodging and burning where needed, and the healing brush for blending in when you have gradients. Having a tablet would be pretty swell, but the pen tool is also a great boon in helping to redraw when you lack a real pen. I don't bother with decensoring most of the time because it's a huge time-sink, but sometimes you get ones where it's just a transparent bar that can be reversed with some leveling and curves adjustment.

Try your hand out at different forms of censorship, see what works and what doesn't and how long each process takes.
