Yeah, of course it's a taste thing, what's weird is that (at least judging by the comment sections of most NTR works I've seen thus far) the majority of the site seems to be extremely anti NTR, to the point where an NTR tag seems to do more harm than good. Personally I don't like to read NTR because it tends to make me rage-y. That's not to say that I don't sometimes find it enjoyable, and as was said before it can be better visually than vanilla. It's a matter of taste.

I prefer NTR, but that doesn't mean I don't read vanilla. Everyone likes what they like, it's a matter of taste. Me?, I prefer good sex, story and art. As long as a doujin has that, I'm going to enjoy it. Of course, I will enjoy it a little more if it has dark elements in the story but that's only a preference on my part.

I dislike it because it's too dark and invokes feelings of grief. This is something that I'd much rather not feel on a regular basis, and the occasional cerebus anime I watch Madoka takes the amount of grief that I want to feel for the next long while. It is unpleasant, after all. Vanilla, on the other hand, is either sweet or indifferent. A feeling of sweetness is something most people tend to enjoy, which leads to more people liking Vanilla.
However, I have seen somewhere that Netorare is a popular tag. I'm not sure if it means that it's a common tag or that it's on the more popular manga, but I'm assuming the latter on that.

OP: Because I don't like to see a story focused on in-your-face-cheating, trickery, backstabbing, humiliation and forcing a character into cuckolding. Even when they don't use those things but it's all about the slow corruption of a woman into the pleasure of sex, I don't care either. It's something I don't need, much like I don't even wanna think about injecting myself into the guy doing the stealing, it feels kinda silly to a certain extent. All I need is a harmless plot -you can go all out with your imagination though-, good-looking girls and good sex scenes, I don't need feelings of corruption, cuckolding and the likes. If I need feelings of 'forbidden' incest clicks just fine.

WRONG DEFINITION
It's because most people think netorare means a very narrow situation here. It is also perpetrated by the tagging systems that use a somewhat wrong definition of the word. For some reason, most people think that netorare only means "super mindbreak blackmail where you make the MC cry so hard and you are a masochist for reading it because you HAVE to be inserting or sympathizing with the MC."
If you go to Japanese blogs and 2chan or even hentai mangaka/doujinshika blogs, their definition of netorare basically melds with netori and NTR, because they are simply the same verb with different conjugations. So even in netori situations, people will just use NTR to describe it, because it's basically the same verb.
I mean, look, we have people who say cheating =/= netorare when even Coelacanth made two cheating netorare one-shots and in one of them, the character says he committed netorare, while the recent work he made, he classified as netorare on his website. If he didn't do that, most people would say it's just "cheating," likely to make themselves non-hypocritical about fapping to NTR, which is something they say they dislike. The funny thing is, the first netorare he did, people tagged as "cheating" against the fact that there was exactly the same story like that made by Kusatsu Terunyo, just that the mindbreak was "lighter" in Coelacanth's tale of housewife fucking.
DENIAL
I feel like they've fapped to NTR already, they just don't know it yet or they sugarcoat what they fap to in denial.
When you are in denial, the relative amount of force you commit into saying what you did isn't what you hate and make reasons for it is very great. And this is a very likely reason why a lot of people go out of their way to badmouth people who not only like netorare NTR, but also those who like netori NTR.
THE HARDCORE LOVERS
Then there's the hardcore netorare lovers who want to define NTR as only super painful mindbreak MC gets tortured mentally stories. So in order to maximize their search results, they want to enforce the NTR is hardcore netorare only. These people are also wrong, because NTR was never that narrow a term. Even netorare was never that narrow a term. NTR is very broad and you can almost apply it to any kind of unfaithfulness in Japanese terms. They don't want this because they want their search results to become easy.
Well, this is merely my opinion based on many reactions, but these five probably converged and created a synergy which plagues not only this site, but every other site outside of Japan.
