From where I come from, we don't pay compliments with a sentence. We ask questions instead. If you are polite, you will say "Have you eaten?"
If you are studying, we will say "Are you studying?"
If you are in your late twenties, we will say "Are you married yet?"
If you just married, we will say hello by asking, "When are you getting pregnant? / When are you getting your wife pregnant?"
If you have one or two children, we will greet you by saying, "Why give birth to one or two?"
If you have a lot of children, we will greet you by saying, "Why have so many?"
If you are in your forties and yet to marry, we will say "Why are you not married yet?"
And when you are in your nineties, expect your peers to greet you with "Aren't you dead yet?"
If you fall into none of these categories, we will ignore you. Those who bother will ask "Have you eaten yet?" Notwithstanding the fact that you maybe on the verge of starvation.
ED: Oh yes, I forgot. Have you eaten yet?
