Nah, but I was told by my mom that I'm too old to be watching cartoons. I was tempted to show her the first five minutes of Elfen Lied, but I decided against it.
I have had an idiot come up to me and call me gay for still watching "cartoons" (still not sure how watching cartoons=gay). I punched him in the face for being an ignorant fuck. My mum has said that I'm too old for it but in more of a joking manner and most of my friends don't really care.[/h]
All the time. I also get mocked for liking Cyclopes (in 2D And 3D if they existed[/h]) and disfigured characters (both 2D & 3D, and not in a sexual way).
Back when I was 14, I would just pace back and forth in my room just festing in anger.
Now I learned this fancy new phrase, it goes like this, "Fuck off".
No but I have to admit, over the years I have been reluctant to mention anime with some friends of mine because of that particular reason. What was interesting was that many of them mentioned the anime themselves which surprised me. I always had friends who were into anime so I've never been mocked for liking it, no.
Not that I can recall. Although I have friends who mock themselves for liking anime. Whenever they bring it up they always start it out by "This is somewhat lame and embarrassing..." . I don't understand it.
I was made fun of for watching Anime in the 5th grade by a kid named Bobby. He called it "Cartoon Porn" for whatever reason. I smashed his nose in with a science book and was suspended for three days.
Yes. Here in Utah, they are less tolerable to those type of fan service characters.
First time that was sort of harsh was in college during my first year. I was waiting for my girlfriend to get out and a group of religious people began telling me I tainted my soul with that shit and took my laptop away.

Who hasn't? I have friends who ask why I still watch cartoons when I'm already an adult. I just shake my head and reply,
"Is there a law that says adults can't watch cartoons? What's so bad about cartoons anyway? They're for kids, you say? Is there a law that states that cartoons are specifically for kids only? And yeah, it's anime, not cartoons, but since you're so close-minded, I'm sure you still can't differentiate them anyway."
Not in a bad way. Years ago I knew a guy who used to tease me about drawing nekkid anime girls (when I draw I first draw them naked and then draw clothes on them). But I knew he didnt mean anything bad with it cause he was a nice guy and probably watched some anime himself too.
But in general people have been either interested in it in some way or just dont care.
Anime and manga is a accepted art to me. Some people like cartoon shows today like Adventure time, Regular show, Archer, Family Guy, anything Adult Swim related and etc. If they like those shows, I don't think people should have beef with Japanese cartoons either. Those who label it off as mere child toons never had the open-mindedness of going further beyond the label.
To me, anime is counterculture like marijuana, homosexuality and goths. Different strokes for different folks.

did they return it?
Yes. After I threatened them for theft. I mean some people just follow blindly.
I was mocked for watching anime and going to conventions when I was in like grade 7, but then people thought it was kinda of neat, and just knew me as that anime kid, which I ended up finding other anime lovers this way. I used to have little anime keychains on my bookbag, and after a while, the other kids started thinking they were nifty. It just took time, because it was something weird to them.
Some guy friend of my bro said that I'm a weaboo for speaking Japanese. Apparently, he doesn't know I'm fluent in both written and spoken. Also, I'm pretty much Asian.
