Is there any chance for the people to pay only for what they want in mags, or would there be repercussions if this is implemented?

I'm pretty sure it won't work that way, but I'm not qualified to answer. Technically a magazine issue is like a volume, and you can't ask for just the naughty bits in a hentai manga, you gotta buy the whole thing. Kinda like getting Jump in Japan, you can't just ask for the One Piece part of it.

This all explains where all of my favorites have gone.... I felt sad when i saw my favorites completely empty. But hey, gotta do what you gotta do, right?

Coming back to Fakku after a few months i must have missed the news and yes shocked but not outraged and a bit saddened of course at all the amount of content that has gone even if a good portion of it wasn't my fancy, i couldn't help but feel this was inevitable as i got my downloads elsewhere since what i was after wasn't able to be downloaded (the more newer uploads that is) and yes i still download elsewhere but i am a Subscriber now as i had been wanting to support the artists for a long time but translated work in a book was not easy for me to find (i just didn't know where to look or the places i found were really expensive) and now because i am really enjoying the look of the daily uploads its money well spent for me and i feel it is worth the amount. I just hope other people who have enjoyed this service that Fakku has given us for so long can come back after they have cooled off or slept on the decision so we can all fap together again.... just bring your own tissues plz =)

Do you remember any of the good questions off the top of your head?
The thread is kind of hard to follow while everyone is busy doing work, plus there's all the "fuck you" posts to wade through.

I was thinking of a way to respond to you directly, but fell flat. There really isn't. It's just goodbyes, raging, and payment option questions.

I don't think my questions will be answered, because they're generally off-topic, but I'll do my best to stay off from now on unless I have something productive to say. I think in general you've all been pretty good/lenient towards the behavior of the those upset, and probably lenient towards my behavior, too. I'm mostly random and it takes a lot to upset me. I paid the sub before this whole ordeal. This is even after noticing that a piece of manga I commented on and got upvotes for was removed. So, I was already aware prior to this that Fakku removes content. I won't get mad that because now instead of paying freely now it's a requirement. To be fair, I figured I had to pay to get anything unique and meaningful to begin with, that's why I paid. I don't want to get free stuff everyone else gets. That's my serious "feels" on the matter. I know that noone asked me, but yeah.

Well.. Can't say I'm not angry about this..
Fakku has been my first doujin site, loved it to death. Fakku was simple, I wanted to read doujin, I got my doujin.

When you introduced Fakku books, I didn't reall care because of where I live I couldn't do any sort of payment. So I still read normal unlicensed doujin.
Same case with Fakku subs.

Recently I got a mail telling me I've been a Fakku member for 7 years (lurker, because I really never contribute to anything but participate on Mote Mote if any of you still remember)
Decided to check out the site just to find out this news.. It's been really fun Fakku, I'm not against this, I know scanlations are not free. I respect your decision and wish Jacob and co's nothing but the best.

Thanks for everything. It's been fun reading.

i found fakku during its whole pirate days. Met lots of great people. Then i took my break. And came back during fakku turning phase. What a big change it was, but one thing i do like about the change it possible (if they run around the forums) is to talk to the lovely artist that make our content. I do like to pirate but support these people is another thing. One thing i can ask for is please bring us some more great artist. i want to have a shelve of fakku books.

Well, that's the right thing to do anyway, a lot of us that can't pay a subscription or buy books will suffer for a while, and some people will even leave forever because it may take a long time to have free content here, and some people even think that it won't have quality. But we got to do what is right, and try to understand and retribute all the good times we had in a meaningful way! Maybe some day everyone will understand that this is the right thing to do, and still be able to have a nice time here in FAKKU! I wish to the FAKKU! Administration team luck, and, that you guys remember that a lot of us, no matter the struggle or the problems some of us will have with content, we are still here, whatever the decision! (Sorry for any gramatical errors)

With love, from the FAKKU! Fanbase in Brazil.

i was angry at first but I understand why you guys did it.

I hope others support Fakku. Because it was a surprise, most people thought Fakku was putting a paywall behind everything, etc. But now with this post I think people will realize that Fakku is trying to do something good.
no they are putting up a paywall they just have a really good white knight of justice holier than thou excuse. that being said this will be my last post and last visit here Jacob you can delete ban me turn me into a spokesperson bot whatever you feel like doing. but regardless I'm out id rather spend my spare money on junk food games and beer than porn ill read about twice maybe 3 times if its good then never again that I can get somewhere else for free shame id just gotten my 5 years too.

But yea after almost ten years it's time to say goodbye guys. This is not Fakku any more to me and what once was a cool place to find this stuff just isn't any more. As for the perception that so and so shouldn't be free well plenty of stuff is. I can go on YouTube and watch a lot of stuff for free. I can read a lot of webcomics for free. I can go on websites that are not illegal at all and catch up on an entire comic series from any of the big companies. I can watch an entire series, again not illegally, from my computer for free from a number of different websites.

you get food and electricity and internet for free too? sign me up. sign the whole world up as well while you're at it.
maybe then we don't have to feel a bit inclined to pay the authors what is due to them.

Where do they get the impression Youtube is *free*? There's paid content and ad supported content on Youtube. Partners share ad revenue. Paying subscribers (usually for the gamers) get more content and not edited stuff that goes on Youtube which is just a recap of what actually happened 24 hours ago, which isn't uncut and is censored. AKA Twitch.

Is there any way that I could once again access a list of what used to be in my "Favorites" section?

Export it.

The way I see it, for this site to exist in any legitimate form the unlicensed content had to go. It's one thing when a site hosts a bunch of unlicensed material for free, but as soon as paid subscriptions come into play it's hard to see all that unlicensed content as anything but profiting illegally off someone's else's work. That's far worse than hosting everything for free and I'm very glad to see Fakku is no longer doing it. It is however a terrible shame to see all those great doujins gone, and I hope someone sees a gap here that they can somehow fill. I believe things like parody doujin provide far more benefit to the legitimate industry than many give them credit for.

I'm not a Fakku subscriber, but I have bought a number of books. I can see that the quality of the subscription content is high, but for my part I would never subscribe without a download option. I do realise not everyone feels this way however. What I'd suggest is to either have subscription tiers with DRM-free downloads being available on the premium tier, or to leave the subscriptions as-is and sell collected chapters of Comic Kairakuten and Comic X-Eros as books along with all the benefits that brings. That latter approach may offer other benefits to the license holders too such as selling advertising space between the chapters.

Lastly in regard to piracy I have to agree with those saying it's primarily a distribution problem. I don't doubt too that many who have regularly visited this site in the past genuinely do not have the income or ability to pay and it would be helpful if we didn't demonize them. As for the hardcore pirates...well they are not lost customers so not worth spending any effort on. The best way to fight piracy is to focus on those who can pay and providing them what they want. If the product is attractive and convenient, those who can and are willing to pay will see the value. Get the content and they will come.

I'm another silent user for the past 4 years. I understand what Fakku is doing and how much of an impact they have made in the community.
I greatly support this, as an artist myself. It sucks that some of my favorites are pretty much gone now due to licensing, but what can you do.
However, I do not agree in the pricing. I have a lot of other subscriptions; Netflix, Hulu, PSN, Xbox LIVE, FFXIV, various other services that I use. All of those services are cheaper than Fakku's subscription.
I have been really wanting to get a subscription since it was introduced. But I can't justify the price. If it was lowered, like 8 or 9 bucks, I will gladly get one. But until then, I just can't really do it.

Well, I thought I should throw my 2 cents here about what I think about the whole situation.

It's been a while since I've seen such turmoil in a community, and with this new movement coming from FAKKU, it's no surprise.

First off, I'd like to say congratulations on making FAKKU as successful as it is today. To see my "initial portal to the H-Manga world" from when I first saw this website 7 years ago (although only became a member 5 years ago) become what it is today is truly an amazing feat and if things like this could bring a tear to my eye, it would. It makes me wish I had gotten more involved with the community and the forums around here. Being so busy catching up on the latest H-Manga on the website, I'm sure lots of lurkers out there, myself included, glossed over the forums, without truly getting into the thick of the community. Although all I may have contributed to the community would have been being socially active, I still wish I had gotten more involved.

It's also nice to see that FAKKU is becoming a median for Japan's artists to be able to showcase their work in a legal manner. Even though it was a recent discovery on my end, I wasn't fully aware of how much of a negative light the west was being seen in the eyes of Japan's adult industry. It's good to see that particular situation being moved forward in the right direction.

That being said, the future of FAKKU seems so uncertain, that I'm at a loss for what I should expect of the outcome of FAKKU's new business model. Of course, I want this new movement to succeed and for FAKKU to become such a powerful H-Manga source, that people will flock to FAKKU to satisfy their H-Manga needs and in turn, strengthen the website to become even more of a powerhouse. You've already given so much as it is, that to not earn what you deserve would truly be a waste. Unfortunately, it's painfully obvious how much negative backlash this movement has received, and with the massive loss of fans of FAKKU, the future seems cloudy.

For me, the new business model was a heavy blow. Not because of the paywall or the massive loss of content (although that still hit pretty hard). It was a heavy blow because I just never saw it coming. Don't worry, I'm very aware that there were many messages that relayed the information of the new movement that was about to hit FAKKU, and even though I knew those messages existed, it just felt so surreal that the free H-Manga that I was so used to reading up on all the time was about to be put behind a paywall. It's insane that I've taken for granted this whole situation for as long as I have. I wish I could have had the insight to figure out that stuff like this was never going to be free forever, and that a movement like this was eventually going to be necessary for FAKKU to continue to exist. Instead, the blow came so suddenly (In the sense that I decided to become ignorant of it) that the initial shock took me a couple days to get used to before I could even make this post.

So the question that stands is, is it worth it to subscribe to FAKKU? My loyalty to using FAKKU for the past 7 years says "YES!"..... but the current status of FAKKU's content leaves me with many doubts. One glaring problem that I'm currently having with this new system is that there is currently no way to get a solid preview of the content that we're subscribing for. A page or two here and there simply isn't enough. Due to my past (mostly terrible) experiences with products that I've subscribed/made monthly payments for, such as games, magazines, applications, and miscellaneous items/etc, I need a firm understanding of the type of content that I'm putting money into, which FAKKU's new system doesn't allow.

Another problem that I've also taken into consideration of this massive change, although I'm fully aware the reasons why the changes had to have been made, is the massive ratio between cut content and new content, and the ratio between new content and content I'd actually read. At FAKKU's current status, the content that I would receive from my subscription and the content I would want to read based on tags (since that's my only criteria I can go on) is average at best. I'll be putting my votes into the polls for the topics that exist about the type of content I would want to see from new publications, but the question becomes how long would we have to wait to see results? While I'm not expecting instant gratification, should we expect things to happen in weeks? Months? Hopefully not longer than that.

Another sort of matter I have with this whole change, although it's more of me asking FAKKU itself rather than a personal problem that I have, is what is FAKKU's plan/stance about the content that is currently circulating throughout other websites. As it stands now, every single book (digitally, of course) that has ever come out on FAKKU, as well as a decent amount of subscription content is already available for free on other websites. I just want to know how FAKKU feels about these particular situations/circumstances and if there's anything that can possibly be done about it at all. As you can probably already guess and as I have already mentioned above, I've taken a lot of this for granted, which is why I know that the content that FAKKU has for sale is already available elsewhere. Then again, this type of news is nothing new for anyone who reads H-Manga daily.

Another question I had for FAKKU is were they ready to deal with such a negative backlash from the community? I'm sure you guys were fully aware that this was going to happen, but did you project it was going to be this bad, or did this surpass or possibly fail to meet your expectations? Who knows, maybe you were prepared for this amount of an exodus of fans, or maybe not, but gaining some knowledge and insight as to how you plan on dealing with such a negative impact would put me, and possibly others, at ease, regardless if the news is good or bad. Just so that we can know that you guys are still willing to progress forward with this movement regardless of the results that this new change has brought.

With all that said, can I put a subscription down for FAKKU's new subscription system?

... Unfortunately, my current answer is no, but maybe not for long.

I wish I could support FAKKU in its new business model, but there are so many doubts running through my head, and there's not enough current content to satisfy my needs, that I can't confidently put my money on the line for this new bold and ambitious endeavor that FAKKU has gone towards. I truly hope that FAKKU becomes successful in their new goals and will I put a subscription down if things look promising in the next couple of months? You can bet your ass I will. I'll most likely still be visiting this website as much as I have before the change, regardless, to check to see how things are and hopefully things will be looking up in the near future.

Until then, good luck, and I wish nothing but the best for this new change in H-Manga history for the west.

I may be wrong in thinking this, but I do remember a large amount of content that wasn't scans, it was original content from artists starting out that uploaded here without any problems with it being free. Even that is all gone now, I think some time and effort could be put into keeping the community around, let people make their own content and upload it here, and if they want it to be free then let it be free. Overall this seems like a bad move, I will not subscribe to read content that the authors intended to be free, and I will not pay for content that I didn't want to read in the first place. This unfortunately is where I draw the line.

From what I can remember, those were all Western artists. Their works are still available and free, except for the current chapters from gy and Ai since they've signed with Fakku.

Although I understand why the removal of the "free" content was necessary, I am still sad to see it gone. I really appreciated this site for what it offered to me and all the work that was put towards it.
I do not know if i can continue to use this site however, since i don't have the funds to put into this site especially when there are free opportunities out there.
Thank you for providing me with years of content and good luck with this business model.

One of the things I feel adds value is the lack of censorship in the art. While the library at writing does dampen the value of this benefit, in the long run it should make the site worthwhile.

I personally will be checking in consistently. It is, after all, the only hentai site I use that works on mobile.
