A video has moving artwork and voice; it can stimulate more than a simple picture can. However, a lot of videos have problems, like people have said. You can look at
Hatsu Inu for a good example of how a doujin can beat a video - the doujins have better (consistent) art than the videos, the story in the doujins is much better, and more stuff is shown in the doujins (when it comes to story as well as action).
Although, in opposite to that, Mizugi Kanojo is better in the video adaptation then the doujin book, least in my opinion it is. The artwork in the movie is identical and the voice acting from the girls is fucking hot.
