Like they title says, i was wondering if anybody had started reading the source material because of the doujinshi? For example i looked into Love to ru because i kept seeing doujinshi that looked appealing but due to the lack of character knowledge i found my self reading the original.

It's the other way around for me. I watch/read the original ones and read their doujins if the originals turn out interesting.

Yes, at least with animes. I'd say probably the last 4 anime gained my interest only after I read doujins of it. That may be considered to be in bad taste but meh, whogivsashit.
