I have yet to see a doujinshi that caused me to start reading a manga before. I have however had many occasions of reading manga that ended in me watching the anime and vice verse.

Yeah, I read some K-ON! doujin and I thought after reading most of them "who are these characters?", so looked it up watched a few episodes of the anime then realized Megaupload got banned.

Well there is one special original video made by a circle and released during C79 but other than that there is no anime of touhou as its creator,ZUN, found it to not be the right time for such a thing.
