In the box, or out on display? What if it's a gift?

Well for those of us with figures and models, do you prefer to keep them in the box, or do you take them out to display them?

I keep some of the more pricey ones in there box, less expensive ones, like figmas and such I take out of the box and display around my room or computer area ^_^

and...

What about figures you got as gifts?

I think this is a personal quirk of mine borne out of circumstance. I keep most of my daughters virginal MISB in their boxes. For example, Hatsune Miku VN02 mix, BRS Blade version, BRS figma, BRS nendo, Migurine Luka nendo, FS/N nendo petit, etc have not been opened yet. LOL, I'm a little weird like that. Also, usually after taking photos of my figs, I would keep them back neatly in their clamshell plastics and boxes. My idiosyncrasies annoy the hell out of my sister.

Maybe when I have my own place and can trust that my little boy would not manhandle my girls, would I display them outside. For now, all of them have a special place inside my wardrobe... ^^;

i keep my figures safe in the box until i have display case, except for Figma.

I have them out of the box as long as I have room to display them safely; meaning out of the sun and not wedged between other figures.

:o In a box?! They're models, not Fabergé eggs.

Show em off, let them breathe!

Take off the plastic and let them be in their poses in the box for now. When I get a glass display case then I'll get put them out. For now though I'm too scared for them to get dust.

Since I don't have any Glass cases, I keep them in the box.

it's more efficient that way and doesn't cost much money and energy for maintenance.

Different thing with Gunplas though, I have to display them in the open air, since their boxes weren't designed for displaying the content. lol at dust collectors...

After seeing what has happened your Azusa and saber lily nendos,yeah it would be best to leave them in the boxes for your case lol.

I have left mine out in the open,the shelf is protected from sunlight.Anyway most of the boxes are large and I have no place to store the boxes.

All my figures are out and about, gathering dust :P

Though my Nendoroid and Figmas are not, I don't wanna lose all the small pieces...

@ gizgal: LOL, yeah they aren't. Perhaps, soon enough. I wished I could bravely display all my figs.

@ Argy❤: You know it (~_^) I learnt my lesson well enough after my little boy bit Yoko and disfigured her. She is now an amputee (lost her left arm when my kid chewed on it) and has his teeth marks on her tummy. That was a sad day(⌣́_⌣̀). Ne ne, I would love to get a new Yoko :3

I Put them on display. I don't see the point in keeping them in their boxes and not enjoy it. Yeah there are things called dust and heat but just try to take care of them. I do dust them every month and stuff. Get some shelves or something that are contained and stuff.

There was that one guy here though that had his Limited Edition Saber Lily Figma broken by Gilgamesh a maid. Just be more careful guys.

Use Konata's Collecting Rules.

Buy 3 of each.
1 for displaying
1 for collecting
1 for just in case

It is said that otakus are rich, but on hindsight, I don't think we are all that rich. Purchasing 3 identical figurines, especially those limited edition ones, will hurt our finances quite a bit, even for one who is working full-time.

The above paragraph does not apply to those holding high salary positions. ^_^;;

Getting back on topic, most of my figurines are still in their boxes. Another forum which I visit from time to time would call them MISB - mint in sealed box.
