Your Worst Nightmare? And How Do You Interpret It?

So after replying to Evnyofdeath's 'Worst Fear' topic, it got me thinking:
What's your worst reoccurring (or nonrecurring) nightmare and how did you interpret it?

My worse nightmare is actually a pretty specific part of any general dream. The general dream can be almost about anything, but if my dream comes down to me clenching my teeth so hard that they shatter... *shudder* I pretty much wake up in a cold sweat -_-;; I think I've dreamt this about 3-5 times now.

As for what I think it's about...um, I'm not too sure actually lol. Well there's the obvious, I don't want to lose my teeth in a violent way >>, but any deeper meaning than that I really can't tell.

All this time, I have lots of nightmare (Which I've not see lately) but mostly can be categorized into three:
1. Being chased by a monster
- I had this for a week in a row (everyday). Its like being chased in a plaza-like building by a monster (the top half is a long haired woman with mantis hand and the bottom half is a spider), in the end I locked myself in the toilet and she got me cornered. I don't know what this means, but maybe at that time I was being chased by responsibility for my mother (That day was the 1st day I had to pay for my mother's living).

2. Walking alone in an endless corridor.
- This is the only dream I didn't understand, I saw this dream a lot but with different backgrounds. Romans, Gardens, etc... I just keep walking.

3. Running in fear (But I can't look back somehow).
- I always had this kind of dream when my work are near deadline... -_-"

Let's take a quick look and break it down.

You're walking alone, down an endless hallway. The different backgrounds represent the World itself. Showing different parts of life. The endless hallway represents eternity. Alone means alone. This may mean one of two things:

1) You have a fear of spending the rest of your life alone. You want someone.

2) You are not satisfied with the way your life is going. You are endlessly searching for Salvation.

I'm not a professional btw, so don't take everything I say seriously lol.

Now, I haven't dreamt since I was in Grade 5. I can't remember any nightmares that far back.

Well, I haven't had dreams that often and when I do I hardly remember them. The ones I do remember are very bland/simple. I am usually just by myself in a house/room/enclosure and I am just doing nothing. I walk around and see nothing, no one, then soon after I wake up.

How do I interpret? I have no clue.
What my therapists say? I have issue with being alone, and they mentioned some other big words which I didn't listen too.

Since I started sleeping naked, I have a lot of bad dreams about being naked in public. This afternoon while napping, I dreamt I was in class and my teacher called on me to stand up and explain something, and I suddenly realized I was naked and had to cover myself. I snapped awake and jumped out of bed, looking for something to put on so I could go back into the dream. Then I realized I could just stay awake for a few minutes, then go back to sleep so I'd be in a new dream anyways. o_O

Public nudity isn't my worst nightmare, but it's my only recurring one. I'd never had a nudity dream before sleeping naked, haha. That makes me fairly certain the two are connected, though it's possible that something else is bothering me. Idk.

I haven't had a real since I was little. I've had some RL Nightmares.

My jaw is able to pop out of its 'socket'. It doesn't hurt.

But I guess when I'm having a dream, sometimes it will pop out and the thing friggin hurts like hell because I think I'm lying face-down and it's putting pressure on the thing. I panic in my dream but I can't wake up and I know it's a dream.

When I was a kid, like 8-13, I would have these reoccurring nightmares that would usually involve me "waking up" at exactly 3:30 a.m. That alone isn't scary, but what got me is that literally everything I do will be in SLOW MOTION. My breathing would be so slow that it felt like I was going to die, words would come out very slowly and it felt like I was moving in molasses. Wake up next morning on the floor all sweaty....I have no idea how to interpret this.

Funny story, my uncle had a reoccurring nightmare where a demon child(think the boy from Grudge) would hold him down and look at him in the face for hours. The 4th time it happened my uncle manages to punch it and wakes up only to find out he punched his wife out cold...she sleeps on the other side of the bed now lol.

Yea I use to think similarly as well that I literally stopped dreaming after a certain age, but there have been studies (Let me see if i can find the article) that suggest you do not stop dreaming during your sleep. Ever. It's just as we get older our REM cycle (the stage of sleep where one "dreams") gets shorter and shorter, therefore the less time you're in that stage and the less likely you can recall one's dreams.

Hmm, this actually sorta sounds like a medical condition I remember hearing about...gonna lurk more and try to link it here :P
but yea I think you and your uncle might have had a similar condition.

Anyhow just wanted to respond to all those folks that shared, thanks again!

O yea, after thinking about my original recurring nightmare, I came up with the conclusion that the whole teeth shattering thing only happens when something in my dream makes me angry. And I do know I have anger management issues.

It's funny you post this, Fpod and I were talking about this yesterday morning.

I typically don't have reoccurring dreams, but I have reoccurring themes. He calls me psychotic ;|

Usually all my dreams involve some sort of death or risk of dieing.

And they won't necessarily make sense. Like I remember one dream of being followed home, and on my walk home I was walking through a dessert to my house.

But things like people banging on my windows terrorizing me and me unable to contact for help because I was without a phone, I ended up IMing someone giving them my address and asking them to call the cops for me.

I've had a dream where I stabbed my cat in the throat and watched him die.

Just yesterday I had a dream about Fpod killing a guy because he was becoming a threat to me. Part of the dream was him smashing the guys face in and then dragging the body to his car to dump into a well ;| He had a friend video record the instance and showed me later.

I've had a dream where someone blindfolded me and was laughing in the background and I was physically screaming in my sleep for help.

One other thing that always happens is I physically feel affected by the dreams when I wake up. Like yesterday I was just 'oh god, it felt real' looking out the window, because in my dream I remember hearing noises outside the window where he had killed the person.

I also felt depressed the entire day when I dreamed that I stabbed my cat in the throat. In the dream I had felt depressed, because he was laying there calm breathing funny. - I think that has to do with my first cat though who passed away a year ago. He had a tumor in his nose and always breathed funny during his last life. He was put down and I remember holding him at the clinic and feeling his paw relax in my hand and his head rest on my arm one final time.

The other dreams I have no fucking clue about ;|

I have frequent dreams about me accidentally getting my little brother killed out of irresponsibility.

Don't need to ask freud about that one.

my... Nightmare is kind of odd. I'm walking through either a hospital or mental ward, can't really tell which, and for some reason the lights are off. It's not dark it's just, the lights are off so the halls are just lit by the midday sun. Anyways, while walking around, I see a bunch of patients crowded around someone else just their for visiting only he has a really weird glow around him, kind of like he's an angel or something, and he's not really doing anything wrong, the people seem happy that he's there and want him to stay longer.

Than the angel sees me looking over, and we both, silently, head outside, and we fight, and the angel ends up disappearing. I feel like I had to do that, that for the long run it's better that he isn't there... And than the building starts to fall apart and crumble behind me, more than likely killing everyone inside...

...yea... That's my nightmare. And, I think it basically means that someday, I might end up doing something 'for the best', and I would just end up hurting I don't know how many... That's my best guess.

Reoccuring nightmare: tied down to the ground and crushed by a steamroller.

Interpretation: I'm under too much pressure.

Hmm i'm not really scared of dreams anymore but i've had plenty that scared me when i was a kid.

One time i saw a 3rd person view of myself sleeping then saw a hand reach up from behind my bed and grab me. I jolted awake when i got grabbed scared shitless, it felt seriously real. Dunno how to interpret it, fear of monsters or the unknown?

Kind of Important A ray of Tsunlight.
Dreaming of being back in boot camp.

I shit you not, thinking of that place bothers me a lot. It wasn't hard, but something about it doesn't mesh with me.

No interpretation needed, just didn't like it there.
