I would take care of any of my children regardless of defects.

I will keep him and his family in my prayers though.

that is one monstrous-lookin child, no offense but he really does look scary...

don't even know what i'm gonna do in the position of his parent, don't wanna imagine either,

all that's left is the slightest bit of humanity, meh, carry on, child, may u have a "wonderful" life(though the possibility is very slim).

We could go with it being about mercy. I actually meant they should have killed it because of how ugly it is.

...I thought there was more 4chan based floating in this board. I'm happily surprised. This is a baby probably afflicted with Harlequin type ichthyosis. Wikipedia yourself some. In all seriousness it used to be and quite often is still fatal. In rare cases with medication they can reach adulthood.

As for everyone that's polarized in one direction or the other on the morality of the issue, I'm either really impressed that you've meditated and found a set logic to believe in that is well rounded or saddened that everything is binary in your view. To me this is an extremely grey case of pain and suffering vs the worth of living. In truth it should be the decision of the person in question but the ability to fully frame the question and the years to come up with an answer, if they say no to life was all that pain worth giving them the choice?

I have no answer, only empathy for the pain which is rather pointless.

nicely put.

kill the baby to set him/her free from pain....

...or let the baby live thru with all the suffering.

although killing is always wrong for me,but letting the baby suffer is wrong too.

arrgh,this matter driving me crazy....

i'm not a religious guy,but this matter left me speechless and actually FORCED me to pray to god for the best.
damn i hate praying.

Praying is for the weak and religious. Praying doesn't do anything, never has and never will. If it makes you feel better, go ahead and do it.

Pray to my sock.

If the baby survives, you have appeased it.

Anyway, in seriousness, I would kill it.

That baby has yet to even form the semblance of a personality, and if the disease does not kill it, it's life will be one of pain and suffering.

Put it out of it's misery.

And mine.

Yes, lets "pray". The only excuse to do nothing to help and still have the arrogance to say you were.

I'm with Purifier on this. Just kill it. There is no way that child will have a decent life. Considering its appearance people will treat as some sort of monster. People will avoid it and such. Letting it live is only forcing it to suffer though what will be a terrible life.

Shame on you people thinking it should live. In my opinion you are horrible people.

+rep for using words I didn't understand and having a great answer.

Seriously, imagine how people are going to look at the baby. When it grows up, people aren't going to treat him/her nice. I mean I am against killing humans, but at this stage the baby doesn't know anything, and usually those physical defects usually come along with mental and many more defects that aren unforseen...
