I'm of the opinion that the drinking age is unfairly high. I realize that there are those who don't exactly share my views so I'm going to allow all those who care enough about the subject to post their opinion. I'll start this off by saying that I think it should be lowered to 18.

I think they should keep it the same, lol, it takes the fun out of drinking when you get to college if you can just roll into a bar XD I know I have some very fond memories of illegal drinking XD

I don't think it matters as it just means you cant drink at a bar and scientifically it is smarter to wait till 21 but then again who follows rules

wait, what? what scientific proof do you have to back this up? Quite frankly starting at a lower age means that you get the time to learn your limits, to know exactly how much you can handle before you black out, or you become dangerously inebriated and decide to drive.
I'm actually kinda surprised at the current results favoring to keep the drinking age where it is

Alcohol hinders the development of the brain, and until you're 21 (usually) the left and right hemispheres of the brain are not fully bridged. Meaning you could permanently keep your brain from developing fully.

It doesn't really matter in my opinion. We all know that if someone under 21 wants to drink there going to drink. But I say keep it at 21. Im not 21 (19 ) but I can tell you right now I have no urge to drink in public.

Drinking at bars & pubs sucks 90% of the time, it's too fuckin crowded and mostly they're playing music so goddamn loud you can't even have a conversation.

Chillin at a m8's house >>>>> That shit.

It Should B Lowered!!
Because at a time in the Early 1900's
it was 18.. but then they banned alcohol and
people got mad and crime went up and everything
so they brought it back and put it at the age 21
ive been drinkin since 10 yrs old n im 17 now.
it should b 18. ! lol

it is 18 in my country ;)
I myself think it's unneccesary to drink overall. You can have fun without drinking, and isn't it even funnier if you remember what was so fun?

Unlucky, in England it's five when not in a public place, 16 in a restaurant and 18 in a pub.

unlucky? is it unlucky that you're not allowed to poison your 5 year old child?

Then you'll go to prison for neglect, negligence and other things, when I say legal I mean responsibly, and while it may be five, the parents have the final desicion and not many would allow their children to get drunk. Only the kind of scum the carry knives in public, wear hoodys and live on a council estate.

i think if i was able to drink when i was 18 (for the record i am over 21) i'd be in a whole lot more problems, especially seeing as how i'd only had my drivers license for about a year, in which some places wanna increase the age when u can get a license to 17 or 18, and if they do that i'd want the drinking age increased as well

not much driving experience + alcohol + dumb teenage/young luck = badthings

sure you can all say, things like you'd get a designated driver etc, but also your parents wouldn't want you drinking at 18 either, (yes there are exceptions, plz don't reply saying how cool ur parents are for not giving a shit about what do before or after u turn 18 ). u c it a lot how kids under 21 die in alcohol related accidents, don't just say how there just not smart about how they drink, accidents happen, and especially when u least expect it. lets not forget how this could affect the next day at school, u got a huge hangover and a huge exam.

sorry for the long rant there, i am in favor of keeping it where it is.

well, Canadians have less automobile related accidents on average so I can't imagine that being good reasoning for not lowering the age limit.

I think if you're capable of voting for the leader of your country at 18 you should be capable of drinking a beer.

If you don't agree with that, perhaps voting age should be higher.

*edit*
And yes Waar, I did enjoy that factor in canada. :3 I wasn't quite old enough but all my friends were, hell even my friends mom bought me alcohol.

Underage drinking is allowed here in Ontario as long as you're under adult supervision. I don't know about the rest of Canada though.
