HR 64 NAO!!!

that Dara Amadura wasn't that difficult but the only annoying thing from that Raviente's Cousin was it's damn meteorites.
it didn't give you any blight but it's just annoys the fuck out of you so you'll miss your attack timing or make you fall when you're climbing.

took me 40 minutes to deal with that Snake because of those annoying as fuck meteorites.

after that,i immediately lvled up to HR 63 thanks to that constant Brachi runs i guess.i've unlocked the Rare Red Tigrex with it and just need 6 more to unlock Fatalis.

Did you solo it?

OFF COURSE!!

Usually in 4 team it need 10 minutes to finish that damn snake.

I rather go instantly to G rather than buying 2 similar games and one is bound to be obsolete.

That's the problem if they do release it... Well we'll see soon.

What's up, nintenyearolds. I just became one myself yesterday by getting a 3DS XL (black/fucking black). Now I'm on the hunt for games. Speaking of hunting, I played a demo of MHU3 today and I wasn't impressed. I suspect it may have misrepresented the game a bit, so I'll need you people to set this shit straight. I have a list of questions, but ultimately what I want to know is why I should play this game.

Are quests timed? The demo was being an asshole about it.

I played as a longsword specialist because it was reminiscent of the relationship I have with my dick. The guy had a 5 hit combo and a special attack combo. Is that all? Do you ever get to swing the sword differently? I don't count not completing the 5 hit combo as a different set of attacks. I'm assuming the answer is going to be about changing weapon types mid-game.

A related question to the above: what's the progression system like? I'm talking leveling up, if there is such a thing.

My friend summed up the game by calling it a grind. Is that accurate? All you do is rinse and repeat for different sets of armor the entire game?

Please be detailed in your explanations. I don't make my purchasing decisions frivolously. I'm interested, but I'm worried about dull repetitiveness.

Most of the quests have a 50 Minute time limit, Average time to kill a monster is 15-30 minutes.

The Long Sword is the most versatile and easy to use weapon in the game. Every weapon already has a set of moves but you can chain it into different moves.
Long Sword in particular has a max of 9-10 combo, but you need to use the full gauge and use the Spirit Combo (R button) to execute it. If you want a weapon that focuses on combos and DPS you should try the Dual Swords.

The only thing you level up is your Hunter Rank, a higher rank will open up harder, newer monsters and bonuses.

Yes, that's the main meat of MH, you collect materials gained after killing or capturing to make advanced armor and weapons. But it's not really that grindful, unless you're being screwed by the RNG for the drops.

To really enjoy this game, you really need to set your own goals. Just blindly playing this game will bore you.

Any more questions?

Nope, thanks. I'll just go and replay the demo using different weapons. That time limit is pretty much a deal breaker, though. Time limit and I don't have a very amicable history, which can be summed up thusly: You have failed. Try again?

The demo isn't really good for "true" newbies, because they don't provide you with the really easy monsters to fight with. The demo is mainly for the veterans of older players to get a feel of the newer 3dS controls.

Actually the 50 min time limit is actually very lenient. Once you get used to all the moving, attacking and monster attack pattern, you'll average 15-30 minutes for a monster.

Exceeding the time limit usually only means 2 things : you're equipment is very inadequate for that monster or you just suck so bad, but the latter is unlikely to happen.

Well, in the end it still depends on your skill and needs. So Every weapon falls into this "If you know how to use it right, it's godly tier"

For example
-You classified the Bowgun as Weak, but that's probably because you're not using the right ammo accompanied with the right armor skills. Bowguns is a high skill weapon and it has high cost usage as you need to craft/buy ammo constantly.
Example why it's Badass:
-One of my friend solo'd to unlock the G-rank (hard difficulty) with only a Heavy bowgun
-A team of 4 people can stagger lock a monster and kill it in under 2 minutes

-Gunlance and Lances are Turtling weapons, You're expected to use the shield more, that's why the only dodge they have is the backstep. The backstep is used more as a combo cancel for advanced users. Then there's a reason why it has a big shield. They're commonly used as defensive fighting. And with the right armor skills you can almost block any attack and counter immediately. Also the Counter from a Lance, and the Wyvern Fire from the Gunlance deals great damage.

-Bows, once again is a high skill weapon, their main difference to the bowgun is they have unlimited ammo. Also it's more of a Status inflicter, So if you're not playing with Status ailment Coatings (Poison/Paralyze/Sleep/Exhaust) it kinda loses it's reason.
Fun Fact, one the most OP weapons is a bow.

-Hunting Horn, the buffers of monster hunter, they play like the hammer but only faster and has a longer distance but not as strong as the Hammer. Users of these weapons has to constantly use melodies to utilize it's potential. They have to remember all the melodies for a weapon. Melodies range from the usual Attack/Defense Up, Health Recovery to giving earplugs (Immune to the roars) and Negate Stamina Use.

Oh yeah, MH3U is on discount for $19.99 in the E-shop until February 3rd.

Great Sword maybe a snore tier weapon but I use that weapon to tear anything a new asshole everytime I bring it out. Lance/Gunlance though is kinda hard to master but I can say this, it's the best weapon for water combat.

armor skills

What's this about turtle powers? Demo doesn't allow customization. The great sword and lances came with fat fuck armor that made maneuvering more tedious than actual combat. The easy hunt, as the game calls it, is against the Lagombi. The hard is against Plesioth. The demo is 20 minutes and I could swear this shit was rigged. Plesioth won't die and does nothing but fin slap when I'm next to him. Is sword and shield just the wrong type for this fuck?

What annoys me about combat is the inability to change direction mid combo. The maneuverability of S&S and DS is what makes them master race. They have quick hits, which allows dodging almost whenever. They're the ones I murdered Lagombi in about 10 minutes with, not including the time it takes to get to him initially. Combat is reminiscent of Dark Souls, but not even the heaviest weapon in Dark Souls had the fat fuckery and extreme recovery times of the great sword. If you miss, you're fucked, and if you hit and don't stagger, you're fucked, at least until the guy decides to finally lift the thing up after a lunch break, at which point dodging is finally possible.

Ha, fucking nintendo. Unlike discounts elsewhere (excluding steam), theirs are actually a big deal since nintendo thinks its nintendick is big enough to not mark down their prices even years after release. All right, all right, I'll get the fucking thing. I'll think of it as a shitty Shadow of the Colossus with Dark Souls-esque fighting mechanics. I hated the fat roll in Dark Souls, by the way. Even mid roll was borderline unacceptable.
