I use Sonic, Meta Knight, and Marth. I also like using Dedede if only cause he has a large hammer. :P

Don't you mean because of his chain grab.

I main Ike for various reasons. Even though slow he is Powerful, so he make's up for it I say. Plus he is heavy so isn't easy to kill either. He's got long range to boot.

I second R.O.B.
He's just awesome, good aerial attacks N-Air, B-Air, and D-Air. Good projectile usage, and decent power too.

Ike,Mario,and Snake are my mains

Ike is mid tier level. He sucks too much with his weight. Kirby can easily beat Ike. Falco can 0 to death him with chain grab to spike. I mean he's heavy but it ends up being his fault that can be abused.

Dude, everyone can beat Ike. What I really hate about Smash is the imbalanced top tiers. If you use MK or Snake you really can't lose.

I stopped taking competitive SSBB seriously a long time ago. The tourneyfags completely sucked the fun out of the game with their retarded rules.

Final Destination lovers can kiss my ass.

My friend has awesome at Diddy Kong. Apparently he was top of one of the forums until a while ago due to us people in college not allowed to use Wireless on our wii's

Yeah, it's too bad that they are stuck in their ways, they were some very good Melee players. They could at least put in some items in an attempt at shaking up the tier list.

Well it's for the best that there are no items. Items make the game more unbalanced. Sure the top tier characters have more advantages but pros can get around them. Technically ZSS can actually counter MK, but like I said you don't see everyone playing MK and Snake. Brawl's characters are not as bad as in melee, majority of the characters are actually playable this time. I mean the people who really complain are those who are not skilled enough at the game. Also, Socal doesn't have those stupid Final Destination only matches, I hate those people too.

To me, the only real competition that is worth it at brawl is All-Random: All Items at med, Characters random, 4 player at time, random stage.

I don't care if they can win a match using the over-average toons that they've played hours to perfectly learn the timing of the OP attacks, if we add a single random factor in the game they are screwed.

Adaptivity fight (All-Random) are the real challenge!

I'm surprised Toon Link gets so little love in this thread, and overall.

I almost play Toon Link exclusively. And this guy is my hero:
Spoiler:

He's alright. The only mode where I like to use him is the 100mb xD

I tried using Toon Link once but he's way to floaty for my taste. I get I'm just used to Link.

That is pretty what all tournaments are like. Go to all fighting game tourneys and people play with characters know how to play and they practice with them for quite a bit of time with other pros.

FPS games are the same thing, and same with RTS games as well.

Random factor has nothing to do with pure skills.

Also, Toon Link is great. He's adorable and he kicks ass.

You guys also haven't mentioned anything about doubles tournaments. Doubles requires even more skills to play in predicting what your enemy is doing and what your ally is doing to make up for good combination kills. I mean Friendly Fire is on so you want to try and not kill your allies as well. Doubles is where skills shine the most.

Except what actually happens is that they choose a partner to tango with, so it's not really like a 2v2 fight at all, but more of a pair of 1v1 fights happening at the same time. Team play only matters when the two fights get closer to each other, and thus people either start hesitating, or they also beat the crap out of their partner. I have yet to see anything, even in Melee, where I thought they had good team communication when it wasn't 2v1.

Then you haven't been to many smash tourneys or watched many matches. That is more of the ignorant answer given by many of those who have not partake or at least watched many doubles matches. You do not see people randomly beating the crap out of their partners, and contestants do change tactics and play style.

QFT on GSD, IMO brawl is a horrible competitive game. There's even fact to base it off of.
1. Slower Speed so new people can catch up
2.No combos in the game that you can't just rack up 80% on your opponent with your skills
3.Serious Nerfs on characters like the manly Cpt.Falcon
4.Less realistic things like gliding,etc
5.No canceling move's that takes practice.

It's a great party game though I gotta admit.
I forget who said you could pick Metaknight or snake, and they'll win that's a lie. It's just Metaknight lol and for all the heavy people just pick D3 and Chaingrab them if you can. Oh standing infinites? wth is that? How could you miss that?

That's because Brawl was never supposed to be a competitive game. Sakurai himself removed everything on purpose and basically gave a big "fuck you" to the professional players.

The "real men use items" thing is a classic though. I still can't believe people got so pissed about that. Good times.
