It's just a natural human instinct, the shame is just part of upbringing in a religous family.
I don't mean that in a bad way, you can believe what you want and follow who you want to follow, but if religion is teaching people to ignore there bodies desires, that's silly. It's like teaching you how to hold your breath until the very last moment before breathing again (holding your breath being the restraint of masturbation, and the point of breathing again being having actual sex in a relationship, you feel relieved because you've let your body do its thing).
