I'm not sure if people are overly optimistic in what you can do with a million dollars or if Sweden is just expensive as fuck.
For a million dollars I would pay of my student loans and buy a decent apartment in central Stockholm. If a single million would be able to get me something substantial that I could live in indefinitely.
It's true, and you're not the first person to point that out:

Go to shit countries, buy houses and then rent them out to people to steadily turn some profit.
Keep saving 'til I have enough to safely play some stocks- enough to balance out any potential failures.
Invest in sustainability, clean energy, and space- because I give a shit.
Buy some land and build a 100% self-sufficient house- totally off the grid so I don't have to put up with bills. Far removed from society so people would leave me the fuck alone.
Build a small tavern in a small town. A brewery as well.
Yours seems to take alot of time, let alone money. A million dollars can only go so far.
OT: Get better computer equipment then get more video game consoles (all of them, really). After that, I'd have everything necessary.
As to grandiose things; well, a million dollars won't get you as much anymore. It's not like I can buy a car of solid gold or anything (Hell, with the way gas prices are, just filling it up might as well cost a million).
But the fact of getting an entire million in one shot is quite overwhelming so it's interesting to see what people would to.
