This entire topic was a prime example of tl;dr.
Anyway, I believe that someone/something created the universe and then left it to its own devices. I also believe that there is no was to prove/disprove an omnipotent being's existence with our current technology.

I tend to get a little carried away when I get exposed to topics such as these.
I don't mind religion or the religious (I'm very much in love with a devout Christian) and yet, the zealots piss me off to no end. Its the kind of anger that makes you say things during your rage that you didn't know about yourself.

Whoa... this thread is super old.
I'm an agnostic, by the way. I used to be torn between atheism and believing in some kind of god but I realised that I just don't care whether a god exists or not. It doesn't effect me seeing as I can't do anything about it, so I'll live my life without worrying about it.

Yea but scientists can't prove religion is fiction or opinion based simply because science do not believe in religion. Same can be said for religion.

Well, it's not that science don't believe religion, it's because many of the stuff in the holy books aren't scientifically proven yet. If most of them are, maybe.

I don't align with any religion, but I do believe in a higher power. No matter what started the universe, nothing I have heard of scientifically can explain what started it all. No matter what the cause was, something made that from nothing. I believe something powerful kick started the whole thing, but other than that I am uncertain. I hold myself to a code of ethics regardless of any religion. I don't need the promise of everlasting life not to be a bastard.
