Dude, it's a skin. They're not supposed to change characters, just a change in appearance for the fans.
Did you read the "change characters in more significant ways" like how Peach has a skin to look like Daisy or how Wario could look like his original design. Not a skin to change the character all together, but skins that could change play style could be cool.
