Prop-making and cosplay suggestions?

0
Hello everyone!

So, I might do male Ryuko (kill la kill) for my next con and I was wondering how I would go about making her red scissor weapon and props in general?

I'd like them to be sturdy and realistic looking as opposed to something that looks flimsy and not really authentic...

Also I am not really sure who I'd like to cosplay...

I want some that really "wows" the crowd and is easy to recognize but not too difficult to make.

I consider LoL characters to be difficult to cosplay because of their intricate armor designs

edit: I'm going to do more than one cosplay, multiple suggestions are welcome

When it comes to props you'll have to look at what the conventions rules are on them. Every convention is different when it come to materials, height, weight, etc. Usually nothing sharp and it can't be heavy enough to hurt someone hence why a lot of them are made of lighter materials. Some convention's have banned props all together so again, can't really reccomend anything since all cons are different.

As for cosplay recommendations, really depends on your tastes in dressing up are, how complicated do you want the piece and how much cash you willing to spend on it? So instead of recommending a character, think about some of these things:

- when is the convention?
- are there any rules or regulations for certain cosplay items or apparel?
- how much do I have to spend on cosplay?
- how crafty am I and how much effort am I willing to put into the outfit?
- who do I want to cosplay as? or do I want to do an original outfit?
- what is the person wearing/what do I need to make the outfit?
- what alternatives can I find for certain things?

Basically once you've answered these generic questions you can start to plan your outfit. Biggest thing is to read the rules to cosplaying since most cons nowadays have rules and they will kick you out if you break them. You also should keep in mind temperature for costumes. I've been to conventions where I either froze my ass off or sweated like a pig so make a reminder to either add or remove layers if need be, or know you may have to suffer for the greater good lol.

Thanks for the informative reply!

You've helped me really narrow down how I'll be doing my cosplay.

I didn't take into account how I sweat easily and I haven't taken a look at the rules/regulations at all yet lol.
