About the merging of Anime and Manga section...
0
Original thread here.
Making a new thread due the original thread was locked due to the carelessness of the thread starter.
Okay, so after more than a month observing the 'new' section, I could say that the merge brings more negative points compared to the positives. What can I see now is that the [Anime] threads are much more fluorishing (just like I predicted) compared to the [Manga] or [General] threads, though the impact can be felt clearly on the [Manga] threads. As one make a new [Manga] thread, before one could read or reply comments on it, the [Anime] threads would quickly fill up the first page and eventually throws the [Manga] thread back. Of course, I don't have to say that most people tends to only look at the first page of the forum unless they have a topic they want to search or something. Not to add that the section feels like... in a total mess (personal opinion, others might not see that as messy. People have different view in 'hygiene'). The only positive thing that I see from the merge is, although not really noticeable compared to the negative, is that maybe, then again, MAYBE, clears the confusion among new users about the 'where to post' matters, which seems to be the main reason why Jake decided to merge the three sections into one. Though I gotta say that it cannot be observed objectively, as we currently have no method on how to actually survey the statistic yet.
TL;DR is, the bad points of merging outweigh the positive, which is:
>Positive:
>Negatives:
I think that's all I want to say.

>Positive:
- Reduces(?) the number of misplaced topic caused by new users.
>Negatives:
- Only [Anime] threads flourish, indirectly killing [Manga] and [General] threads.
- With it's current condition, I view the board as "quite messy" due to the cluster of three different type of thread.
I think that's all I want to say.

Possible solution to lower traffic threads being pushed off the front page: larger capcity pages.
instead of a twenty thread limit, how about forty, or sixty threads per page? or even just the front page has more, but after that back to twenty per page.

Quite a good idea, but I think it would make the section much messier. Moreover, having too many first page threads would be... displeasing to the eyes, at least to me.
Not to mention that it would be harder to skim the first page with too many threads.

I think that General and Manga should be made into subforums for the sake of visual and not pushing back other threads.

That is what I meant mainly. I wasn't really specifying the order of the forums. Actually after I posted I thought it would be better to have General then Anime and Manga as subs.
