Bit Torrent Drama

I DL'd and started to "Unzip"(Or whatever the word is. The Torrent itself is on my desktop already and downloaded there very quickly, but now the Bit Torrent program is doing whatever it has to do to it so I can actually use the file) a Bit Torrent last night.
I had to pause it when it was time to go to bed. At that time it had 2 more hours of unzipping or downloading left.
NOW, it's got 27 hours. What the heck happened, and is there anything I can do to speed it back up?
Edit: OMFG. It has now gone from 1 day to 3 days. How the hell did we get from 3 hour download to 3 day download? It's already more than 40% complete and now it's pulling this crap. Sigh

Maybe you should try a different Torrent manager? Im pretty sure there was a topic about this somewhere of the best torrent programs. I'm sure a fellow Fakker will help you out. I use Torrent Spy and that seems to work ok.

Either try a different Bit Torrent client (azureus or uTorrent work for me) or there aren't many seeders. Using BT doesn't work like DDL's because it depends on the amount of people sharing/downloading to get you your stuff, resulting in constantly changing download times.

It might start downloading fast and show that it will be done in 30 minutes. But if people stop seeding, the download will take longer and the time will increase. Don't be too concerned about the torrent showing 3 days. It will probably speed up and finish within a day.

I think you've just got a bit confused. The torrent file itself contains no actual data for the movie/whatever u want to dl. Its only a few kb so yeh it'll dl in seconds. You've still gotta download the file, and like the other guys said it all depends on how many people are uploading. If its a really obscure file that only 1 or 2 ppl have, you can easily be waiting a week for things to dl. that's the nature of torrents.
although you won't find this kinda material on it, i'd suggest tryin to get into a private tracker, like torrentbytes.com. As long as you keep a 1:1 ratio (uploads:downloads) you get awesome speeds (eg. 300-400kb/s)
