I know this has been mentioned before, but I use the Combined Community Codec Pack.

Inside the pack I use "Windows Media Player Classic"

But I suppose they are one and the same, just the Windows bit reminds people you 'ain't on Linux... <3 Linux...

:) I used to call it WMPC, but I realized my folly when my friend read what I'd IM'd him and he actually picked up the phone, called me and shouted loudly that it was Media Player Classic. Then hung up.
I guess that's the only reason I correct people on it. >_>

I'm currently using CCCP, with CoreAVC for h264 decoding. I ended up getting CoreAVC when I tried to watch the HD encodes of Paprika. With just straight CCCP, it was completely unwatchable. Except for some heavy parts, I could watch the full HD encode using CoreAVC. Overall, I'd say its *almost* worth the money. Hopefully the open-source h264 decoders will get a little more efficient, as more hi-res content is encoded using h264, due to its general awesome-ness.

I know this may sound like sacrilege, but try playing it in VLC (yes, I know VLC tends to mess up subs). If it plays in VLC, then you can know that there isn't anything wrong with the file itself, the problem is in your codecs or codec settings. If that's the case, it may be worth your time trying either another codec pack, or resetting your current codec pack (just keep track of what specialized settings you have in case it doesn't end up doing anything).

I recommand KM-Player Forum with Download-Link never let me down up till now.
Expect some HQ Episodes (Gundamm 00), but im pretty sure that was a Hardware Problem.
It comes with installed Codecs and doesn`t need any further Codec Packs.
