Fakku Broaden Your Horizon ?

I think in would be cool to start reporting pop culture content
covering news/events + video games from the country of Japan
As part of a new separate version of the home page
I think it would bring in a lot of new users looking to discuss such content
without the traditional restraints that other sites have

I guess... but there are so so many sites like this already (take the entire Danny Choo web portal, for instance), that unless Fakku was offering first-hand, original articles, it wouldn't be worth the trouble.

Yeah, I kind of agree with Giz, there are already many outlets for those things and if something as such were to congregate here at Fakku it might just turn out to be a hassle. Not saying it's a bad thing, of course.

WEll, we have some users that live in Japan, but this is probably going to be big and continuous. so if they're willing and ready, they can just start writing articles.
But yeah, we already have Danny choo and Sankaku. Let's just focus on things that are actually plausible to do.

But it would be nice if some people actually live in Japan to cover the news and other updates.
I was a member and contributor of some site that covers any form of Japanese entertainment - J-pop, TV Shows, etc. But then, I noticed that the site is just leeching multiple Japanese blogs/forums and different Japanese entertainment news sites and they just reword or restructure the articles and update their site with their "unique" news. It's so lame they pretend to know Japan and its culture. I quit.
So what's the big deal of "you must be in Japan" thing? Not much really, but you you gain a solid knowledge and understanding with your update/news with a more specific details to discuss even outside the box of your topic, compared to those wannabe Japanese news site which is just a compilation of news from countless similar sites like them. You give respect to those people who honestly work hard for their articles, you also gain people to follow you and give you respect.
Anyway, I want Fakku! as it is for now.
[size=10]Pardon me for the little rant, I was just dismayed with that site and I just want to share it.[/h]

Hmm.... well, after Jacob is not busy much and has gets done with most of the things that needs to be done on FAKKU, why not? Although I think there will always be better thing to do on FAKKU with fixing and adding features, etc, rather than going for something this big.
