Feedback on Ahegao

Fakku's tagging has always been adequate for my purposes--I never needed to refine a search too much. But one problem I have is how the Ahegao tag is so loosely thrown around.

For example, this manga (Cold Bitch Student Council President) has great, traditional ahegao at its finest and is awesome. I'm sure all fans of it would agree.

This manga (There's Someone I Want to Introduce You to) (while I enjoyed it) is tagged ahegao but there is really no ahegao. Maybe for a panel or 2.

And then lastly, this manga (Divine Shame) quite clearly has ahegao, but was not tagged as such. Only by chance did I happen to find it.

This probably sounds like a petty complaint, but for people who have more niche fetishes, it's important to accurately know where to find them. Especially now that this is a subscription service and many potential subscribers are hesitant because their fetish doesn't have many manga to view. It's also important to tag correctly because of the follow function that informs you when a tagged manga is uploaded and in the future when the tag blacklist Jacob says he'll implement becomes a thing. It'd be a shame for someone to blacklist ahegao and then miss out on a manga that actually had none.

So, I guess I'm just hoping that more attention is paid to the Ahegao tag at least in the future because it is a tag I and many others love and nothing is more disappointing than seeing a manga tagged ahegao and then seeing none. I realize what ahegao is can be up for interpretation, but if you've read hentai manga with ahegao, I'm sure you can form a baseline.

I think we need a new Tag report thread in here. :D

Removed the tag from "There's Someone I Want to Introduce You To", as you need some Eye rolling + tongue to be qualified as Ahegao..lol
Added the Ahegao tag to Divine Shame.

Ehh, Fakku's tagging system has not always been the best around. There's a lot of things to improve.

Agree with you on the tagging and I'm currently going through all of the works I can see atm and checking on their tags so they should be a bit more organized in a couple of days. Jake gave me the OK to resume editing tags.

Sweet. I appreciate the effort Misaki.

No problem, it's fun for me to do and I know people appreciate good tagging so I'll work hard to help out. Anything I cannot edit I can just pass on to other staff, but I agree with Kaimax, should be a report tag/work thread where you can say what needs to be edited if something looks incorrect.

Maybe add a drop down selection in the contact form for "Tags"? This way users can report if they think a release has been mistakenly or miss tagged.

I don't understand why Fakku doesn't adopt a tagging system like ehentai has. Tags are very haphazardly applied and there are way too few of them.

Actually finding what you want (and avoiding what you don't want) has always been fakku's worst part. Tags really should be crowdsourced.

I've talked with Jake on tags quite a bit ever since I started helping and the thing about adding tags to works is you don't want clutter a work with tons of tags. I know when I go onto exH and other sites I get overwhelmed by the sheer number of tags that are available. Honestly I don't think a lot of the other H sites even know what they have tag wise, I find a lot of their works without tags or tags that are similar to other already established tags.

Also it's not as easy to tag a work as you would think. I've had a lot of debates with other people over what constitutes oppai versus bakunyuu or what is difference between trans and futa, etc. If a single panel has one cunnilingus or you can see the dick in the vag (x-ray) scene does it constitute having that tag or no?

I think what fakku has tag-wise is pretty clean cut and works well. It's not easy to keep all these tags in mind. Fakku currently has around 80ish tags if I remember correctly (edit: 86 atm to be specific) so yeah they can miss some here and there. That's why I help out with tagging; easier to do tag editing after a works been uploading. When I did upload I had to review the work 3x over to make sure I didn't forget a tag (and I usually did regardless lol) so just editing tags is easier after they're published.

Agree with you there. Too many tags gets a bit arbitrary and then you have to get really nitpicky, and it just becomes a pain.

But, I was actually about to suggest what kcaz said about ex/ eh with a tag report/ suggestion feature, where you can report if a tag is wrongly put in, or is missing. Could work out easier for you guys as well, if you miss one, less threads about it, and you'll in theory hear about it soon.
If people abuse it, by doing stupid shit, revoke their rights to it. If somebody has helped you out tonnes, maybe add them to the tag people list or something, so you have extra hands?

That's fair enough. I actually guess I think fakku has a fine number of tags when I really look at it. I definitely don't want a gelbooru type situation (although I don't find ehentai to be overwhelming because it categorizes tags).

My main issue I guess is just how unevenly things are tagged. Like how NTR seems to be a parent tag of forced (as evidenced by manga like this that clearly have forced but lack the tag).

I can understand your points. Tagging every little thing would lead to bloat. I just feel like there has to be a middle ground here. I've basically always hated using this website because the tagging system made it really annoying for me to find what I wanted. It'd be nice if I didn't have to skim through a bunch of manga I'm not interested in to find, say, an NTR manga that doesn't involve rape (unless that's what the cheating tag is for, which would be another problem, but I won't go into it unless that's the case).

This issue will only become more important as fakku gets a larger amount of content. Overly broad strokes aren't that big a deal when you only have to search through a little but, but they're annoying as *hell* when there are hundreds.

We got a good group of helpers atm so I think were covered there and if Jake wants to do a tag report system I'll leave it up to him. Honestly though I would have been reviewing works earlier in the game, but I didn't know if I had the ok to touch the official fakku released content. Jake finally got back to me on it and said okay so I'm nearly done reviewing all the works. The missing tags should be added to things and I'll keep up with it in my spare time.

exH does categorize their tags, but they have so many and I've found a number of works to be missing many of the tags they claim to have (don't get me wrong I like that place a lot, but it takes an army to sift through everything they miss because they have so much and so many tags). I've found a lot of works missing tags or rather having tags that could be condensed into a single category rather then going off into 100 child tags to one main one. I know at one point I noticed a huge revision in their tags and I think it was mainly to condense things, but stuff was loss in the process.

Anyways with NTR, it's hard not to have it relate to cheating or forced because the concept of NTR is to steal a lover away from another. So in essence this can be forced or cheating (consensual yet still stealing/cheating on your lover). It's rather difficult to have it not be forced and to not cheat even if the third party is cool with it.

It is good to see you back in action Misaki-Chi, and we do need to get your missing tag form sticky on the support page again, now that you can edit the paid for content. I do have conflicting options on tags though. On one side I completely agree that the number of tags can get overwhelming at some point. One the other hand I would not mind being able to see more and more niche tags when searching. I personally know there are a few niche tags I would love to see like cheating, but only when it is the girl cheating, or a tag for when the woman is much older, but not necessary a MILF tag as she could just be a 20 something with a shota, but tags like this would quickly become a huge task. I kind of liked how Hitomi.la did this, but I don't think Fakku could do it and still be as organized. Maybe they could though, who knows. I do know that implementing an extensive tagging system like that should not be anywhere on Fakku's priority list right now, so I am content with what I have.
