Informing new users about proper thread deletion

Would it be possible to have some sort of obscene, hard to miss way to inform people making their first thread that deleting their OP does NOT delete the thread? And that they should contact a mod to get it deleted.
While a popup would be rather annoying, but it would only happen once, and it's definitely for a good cause.
I just don't think adding it the reminders at the right side of the posting box would cut it.

Yeah, that gets annoying fast, but other than just telling them outright, it doesn't seem like much can be done.
It's shit like this that makes me want to create Fakku tutorial videos. >_>

Well, a popup would be telling them outright, right?
I know this would have to get approved by the powers that be, who aren't always prompt about making changes, but I was just wondering if other users thought that it would be a good idea.

I usually cut the pop-ups off before they get the chance to load though. What if the other users does the same?

It is inevitable for new users, and perhaps some older ones as well, to believe that they have the ability to delete their own threads.
In my opinion, most topics tend to lose their focus of discussion once the opening post has been deleted, especially if the title does not provide any clues. If any member were to encounter such situations, feel free to contact any of the staff members, myself included, to delete said topics.

And what if they have AdBlock so it doesn't come up at all?
Maybe a better idea would be a warning at the top of the page, just above the editing box in red letters, something along the lines of "Warning: Once your thread has been made, only a Moderator can delete it!"
I think part of the confusion about deleting threads comes from the fact that you can delete a thread, only IF it hasn't had any replies yet, by deleting the opening post. If you do so however, you'll get an automated message from Momoka confirming that fact, but the message makes out like it was deleted by a Moderator as some sort of punishment for wrongdoing.

Hmm, I see your point. I totally forgot about adblock nullifying the popups, despite the fact that I use it.
I think the idea of a warning box is solid. Big red letters should do the trick. Including instructions to notify a mod in case you want it deleted would also be a good idea, methinks.
