Outdated and unnecessary stickied threads

The first thing you see when you one a section is the stickied thread and therefor I think it's important to keep them to-date. So new as well as older users doesn't get confused.

While I do understand that Jacob doesn't like masterlists, he should at least unstick all the already existing and outdated lists.

The reason for this thread is to point out as the title says "Outdated and unnecessary stickied threads" for them to get either updated or unstickied.

No. Not the rules thread (which I think you suggested).
And most sticky threads in Visual Novels, Doujin Soft, and Eroge and Manga, Doujinshi, and Video Discussion are useful.

No, I wasn't talking about the rules thread which I suggested either.
I was talking about the whole masterlist and other sticky thread.

In this thread, as you can see, Jacob doesn't give a single flying fuck about masterlist thread that I suggested. I can imagine him having the same attitude towards new masterlist and other worthy threads that should be stickied. But at the end of the day, I could be wrong.

Well, maybe some, but not entirely. Take down the stickies at VN upload section and all hell will break loose.

That being said, is it just me or the only worthy stickied are the one in VN upload? Aside from the rule and shitnot stickies, of course. Most 'masterlist' stickies are horrendeously outdated, and even if they do, most n00bs don't even take notice of them. Besides, with the rule of "Identical Topic" being lifted, I don't think that these kinds of masterlists are needed.

Just my opinion though.

Jake doesn't like master lists or sticky threads so this thread may inspire him to take more of them down than to make the changes you request. We go with a bare minimum sticky threads and the few that do exist are there begrudgingly.

I suggest taking them down. The point of masterlist is to prevent identical topic being created when the "no identical topic" rule was still active. Now with the rule gone, those masterlists has lost their original purpose.

A question though. In VN upload section, it's been a custom that if a game has been uploaded and posted in a thread, nobody is allowed to upload a game and post it in a thread different than the original. It's okay to upload a same game, but do not make a new thread for it. Instead, post the link of your upload in the existing thread.

My question is, should this keep on continuing? Or just let people upload all they want?

The change in rules is mostly applicable to Random and IB, we wont flat out delete 2 threads about the same topic but we still want some form of order, so I still merge things if I find it's been done before. Anyway, we most likely wont move any of the topics that are currently stickied right now, at least not until Jake says we should.

Eh, then why not just get the rule in function with IB and Random as the exceptions? I believe it would reduce the confusion caused.
