problem extracting files

I don't know if this is the right section or not, but I really have no idea where to ask.. please kindly help me..

I've downloaded 2 VN's namely, Mashiro iro and Osanajimi wa Daitouryou.. and I keep getting the Data CRC error file, I just wanna ask if the problem is with the file or is it's the fake crc errors I've been hearing about.. so if you would please be kind and at least answer this question, I would be very thankful.

If ever I posted on the wrong section, please forgive me,on top of being new to this, I'm also really want to play some of the VN's here.. thank you for the help, Kind sirs..

have you already changed your unicode to japanese yet?

Is the file bin/exe/iso/cso/img/or weird.

not yet sir.. do i have to change that before I unrar it?..

Hmm... from what I know, you don't need to change your unicode before extracting, but some games require you to change your unicode to Japanese before installing it.
What kind of message did you get?
And, did the error message popped out during the extraction process or you just can't extract it at all?

error message popped out right off the bat sir ><.. didn't even reach 1% of the file to be extracted, actually it was 0.. it's a Data CRC error sir.. I don't know if the problem is the file I downloaded or something else .. I've already redownloaded the whole thing a couple of times, but I get the exact same error ><.

If it was the unicode problem then it would let you install it but not run it.. in most cases.. could be corrupted data or improper settings or mounting... Did it give you a error number or just the plain file can't open/copy.

I suspect virus, malware or something similar.

Change to Japanese Unicode, that's usually a must. When I started, I hated doing that but I discovered it doesn't really change much so I've kept it on Japanese Unicode for a while now.

First of all, what internet browser are you using? I don't mean to be rude, but..
Firefox, chrome, etc. fails in some areas where Internet Explorer dominates. In some cases you aren't getting all the necessary parts (sometimes) while it downloads if you're using Firefox, Chrome, etc. (Yes, I'm an Internet Explorer person).


And no, I doubt it's a Virus/Malware problem, pretty much 90% of the time that's not the cause.


Assumed process after download:
- All are in the same folder, you highlight all of them then right click to extract yes? And that's where the issue comes in?

I didn't have a chance to install it sir cause the problem is when I'm extracting the files ><..
In case it was a unicode problem, can applocale or atlas fix that?..

The chances of both vn file been corrupted is null. Since you answered me that it in the mdf and iso formats.. are you mounting aka using a iso ripping program it get the data out without the cd or burning the cd. If that the case use need to first change the unicode to japanese and restart, then using a mounting program like deamon tools or my personal fav iso buster you need to rip the raw dat out then install the exe file.

If your using win 7 applocate won't work and atlas is just the translation program.. in the link there the step by step to change to unicode japanese.

Wait, just incase, you do know how to change to Japanese Unicode correct?

If so, then it's recommended you completely uninstall your .rar extractors (7zip, winrar, etc.) if the problem still persists. Also, Daemon Tools Lite is the program most people use here.

Example:
In cases where there is an English patch, you'd mount the game and ignore the file img installer, and then just let the CD run then actviate the English patch.

But of course, your problem now only lies within the extraction area. Possibly faulty programs, so redownload them, they're small anyhow.

PS: Make sure they're completely off of your computer, literally go into your Program Files if you need to.

PPS: Is it only with these two VNs, or other VNs as well?

I use Daemon sir but I'm not that good on the unicode language since I don't have the cd..

AS of now it's only these two, I've successfully downloaded G-senjou no Maou, FSN, and Saya no Uta, but I can't download these other two.

By CD what do you mean? The CD of the VN?

When I said CD, I meant the file that gets extracted.

When you Mount an .img, .cue, .bin file it's technically read as a virtual CD not a physical CD, sorry if I confused you.

By the way did you try completely wiping your extraction software and downloaded through IE? There have been a few cases where some people using FireFox/Chrome/Other had problems whereas those who used IE didn't.


Since the extraction won't budge it looks like it's a problem with your extractors.

When I said CD sir, I meant about changing to japanese unicode sir, I don't have my windows installer with me anymore >< I need to delete all extraction soft ware in my computer sir?.. I have Program archiver, 7zip and winrar, I need to delete them all sir?
