Rating System?

I've been wondering if there should be some kind of system such as the five stars or 1-10 scale for the website.

That's not a half bad idea. Especially since most we have to go off of is the tags and the comments

I don't know how accurate the rating would be though. I feel like people would just give a low rating because of what genre it was. And then it would get abused, like with what happened to the rep system on the forums.

Honestly, Ratings means nothing when you have tags and genre haters.

Yeah, it's a wonderful idea, just look at how well it's worked out for ExHentai, where perfectly fine yaoi hentai gets downvoted to hell by biased homophobes.

Rating systems usually end up being a bandwagon of min-votes and max-votes. It ends up being unfair and the data gets skewed. I think there are better ways to accomplish what you want. We might be getting something like that with the upcoming site changes. Stay tuned...

I believe the only ones that should be able to rate should be the ones who have access to the forums, not just anyone who visits the site. I think that will somewhat deal with the unfairness.

No it'd still be a mess. Too easy to make an account/alt accounts on here and fuck up the rating system. This has been suggested before and I still say no to it personally.

The pros of rating would be that high quality books get highlighted.

The cons are much worse though.

Anyone can downvote or upvote for no clear reasons, and it's worse when the content is controversial. NTR is a good example of controversial content.
Fanboys are also an issue, because they may tend to upvote.

If anything, I believe handing notation of the books to a critic is more intelligent.
