Unlimited vs Paid Content
0
Just a small question since I have been away from Fakku for a really long time now. But I notice on the Front Page half of it is paid content now that are not included in Unlimited subscription.
I understand those are doujinshi separate from the magazine translation but are the same amount of chapters for the magazines still getting translated? I remember it was something like 100 new uploads per month according to the FAQ but from first glance it does seem like it is all paid content now.
Don't get wrong, not complaining or anything. Just wondering if due to the increase in doujinshi translations it makes it seem like the front page has less Unlimited content.

We have a lot more third-party partners selling their products on the site nowadays, and many of them had a slew of releases lined up over the holiday season. Having just wrapped up the year, I can also confirm that FAKKU increased our output of books by roughly 15% (which in part can be attributed to Nana & Kaoru), as well as releasing more doujinshi content than ever before (well over twice of what we did in 2021). These are all purchasable products.
That said, the amount of content that goes into the subscription service has remained the same and wasn't impacted by any of this. This is where the vast majority—roughly 80%—of FAKKU-published manga ends up. So to answer you question of, "are the same amount of chapters for the magazines still getting translated?" Yes, there's simply more purchasable content on offer now compared to the earlier days when we only published a dozen or so books each year.
I hope I was able to shed some light on the situation and that you found this helpful. I appreciate the civil tone so I wanted to be as thorough as possible.

Thanks for the detailed reply. That definitely clears up a lot on my question. By Third Party do you mean the artists themselves are actually working with Fakku? If that's the case that's awesome. Would love to buy some of those doujinshis to support them directly

By Third Party do you mean the artists themselves are actually working with Fakku?Well, the artists are always involved in the process. They are the rights holders, meaning they have the final say in approving the licensing request, regardless if it goes through a Japanese publisher (which is the case for commercial manga/books), or when we work directly with them (doujinshi). When we started out, FAKKU was the exclusive publisher and localizer for all content available on the site, but that has now expanded to include other parties.
By third party I mean anyone that's not FAKKU using the platform for distribution. Some are the individual artists self-publishing, and in other cases they work with other publishers who localize and distribute the material for them. You can see a list of publishers who have a presence on the site here.
