I've never played one before and i've never really bothered to look at any. My question is are they even worth my time, what do they give that hentai and manga don't? I'd love to hear what other people's opinions are.

The best I can break it down is I'd put hentai games into probably 3 categories: visual novels, nukige, and pretty much video games.
Some hentai games are visual novels just with porn in them (actually I'd say a good portion of VNs are this), so if you like visual novels, then you'll like them.
Nukige are games that only really exist to help you jerk off. They don't have as much of a plot and there are a lot of sex scenes and are often also VNs.
Video games, are, well, video games. I myself personally can only really find entertainment in hentai games that have gameplay. For example, the Rance series of hentai games are great because they're pretty much like a real video game, but have hentai in them. There are other games like this like Kamidori Alchemy Meister and Tears to Tiara. On a smaller level, there are some games that are very simple RPGs or you can move a character around and there will be Game Over CGs.
I think hentai games can be fun, but as I said, I usually need gameplay to keep me entertained.
Edit: I think a benefit for these games as well is usually the art is very well done and also in color.

Sengoku Rance is one I highly recommend as well as Rance 6. Rance 5 and 6 are available for purchase from Mangagamer as a double pack for a pretty good price and I believe Sengoku Rance and Rance 8 are being released by them very soon.
Edit: Also, I believe the Rance hentai anime was based off of the first game so you can check that out if you want. The original was made in 1989 but I believe they made a remake of it.

Also there are games like Honey select, which are basically "Animate your own Hentai" software. Were you can create characters like in skyrim, choose from a shittown of outfits and let the char be animated in the sex position you want.

No there is no story. There is a personality system which changes voicelines pre, during, and after sex scenes but it pretty barebone.

The problem i find with most h video games is they tend to be on the rapey side. Lose to experience the h scene or beat this boss to dominate her. It is a massive pain to find games that dont focus on that. However games like kamidori are great because they have a decent story and arent rapey.
I liked Venusblood and Mira and the mysteries of alchemy but they were a tad out of my comfort zone. Sister Travel was something that hit all my marks.
If yall got any games up my alley then feel free to suggest them.

I would say yes in most cases. As far as my tastes go I would stay away from Cherry Kiss games, other than that Fuck Yah.

H-games can be pretty good, very good even. The Rance series has pretty good rpg gameplay, so I've heard. The weakest link of h-games, not counting certain VNs, are RPGMaker H-games, specificially turned based H-games.
I have played many RPGMaker Games that have turn-based combat and there was literally only I liked in terms of gameplay. Melty Quest was close though because the combat can be actually hard which is a plus since you do not need to make yourself lose for an H-scene. Apostle had a variety of attacks, equipment, etc. to make the gameplay good but the combat just ended up becoming tedious. I still liked both of these h-games because they have great ass h-scenes. The RPGMaker H-game I actually liked in gameplay was 'Love Love My Buddy'. A huge ass RPGMaker game with many relationships and endings. None of the H-scenes need to be achieved by losing. The combat can actually be challenging because you can only have one partner at a time, usually that person you have a relationship with. Even better for some people, the NTR is completely optional to the point I actually missed them after beating the game.
TL;DR
Non-VN hentai games have a consistency of being good, however, turn-based RPGMaker Hentai games can be hit-or-miss

I recently found a game called False Myth on here that's very cool. It has a Baten Kaitos sort of card-based battle system. Very nice pixel art and you don't need to die to get the H-scenes; they're events you do during the day. I highly recommend it.

Yeah I'm well aware of False Myth. While I do not find the characters sexy, I might actually give it a try since the gameplay looks really good. I also like big H-games so this will certainly be a treat.

I will have to give False Myth a try when I can.
