Haa anyone from Fakku reached out to lilith about making the games western release here since Steam banned it?

Why would anyone want to buy that anyways? Pretty much everyone who's interested in it has already played, or can easily get the high quality fan translation of it. Lilith wasn't exactly doing anything new for the release either. It was a pure zero effort cash grab and not worth supporting. If they were going to release it without mosaics, then sure, but they weren't... So why even bother?

I'm sure there's been interest to localize more of Lilith's games. Why there hasn't been any done in ages is unknown. Maybe it's licensing and localization costs, or maybe Lilith has a refusal to release non mosaic works anymore. I don't know.

I wouldn't suggest FAKKU try to license ANYTHING without a guarantee of completely uncensored mosaic free release. All FAKKU releases are supposed to be fully translated in English, completely uncensored (no mosaics, no black-bars, no changes to the story/dialogue), and DRM-Free. If they can get Lilith on here while staying true to what they claim to be about, then great, I'd buy it. I don't want to see anymore fuck ups like LOVE CUBE though (which I regretfully bought here).

Okay, so go buy it on English DLsite, and apply the free fan translation then? Doing that would get you the exact same thing if it released here or on Steam and you bought it. Not sure what's so hard for some of you to understand... There's literally no point in this releasing if it still has mosaics present.

I would prefer no mosaics and I think that was the direction they were heading.

People would still buy it. Consumers generally won't go through the hoops you mentioned.

That wasn't the direction they were going. The game was going to still have mosaics. It would literally have to have them since the Japanese company was attempting to self publish and sell on Steam. They need to do it properly, and work with someone like FAKKU to release it uncensored.

What hoops exactly? Buying on the English DLsite store and downloading a patch is hoops? Googling something is hoops? Please... I'd agree somewhat with that statement if we're talking about gaming in general, but this is the fucking adult and eroge game community we're talking about here... Most people already sailed the seas on this game, and would only be willing to drop some cash on it if it was officially released uncensored. I guarantee you that's the reality of the situation.

Just for the record, there's nothing saying they can't release the game anywhere else. FAKKU doesn't have to reach out to them and actually license the game for them to sell it here. If Lilith wants their games up for sale in English there's plenty of Western stores that will host for them censored. FAKKU, Denpasoft, Mangagamer, JAST, etc, all sell third party titles censored or uncensored. There's been PLENTY of opportunities for Lilith to release their games in English and it never happens, for whatever reason.

I think the reason they wanted to use steam was the large installed user base. It may have been a one and done situation which is what I think has happened. Most likely the dlsite and patch option is what people will need but youd be surprised how many people on steam have not explored the eroge world but would still buy a porn game on steam

They could still try and sell on Steam with a proper English publisher also, which would enable the possibly of no mosaics if they wanted. In fact they'd have a much better chance of not being banned if they did a proper release with a studio who's already established on Steam. Some of the things / scenes that would potentially be a red flag could be cut out / edited by the localization team / Publisher beforehand, and a off-site patch could add them back in if you so desire. If they went about it this way, I guarantee you it would have been far more successful for them than whatever the fuck they were trying to do with that mosaic episodic release...

Steam is not a good thing if Japaneses studios are not using Western Publishers to release games. One, you're always gonna have mosaics, and two, there's no quality control on a translation except for the Japanese studio themselves. It's just a recipe for half ass poor releases. Steam is a lot more strict when it comes to certain content also, so we'll see future titles changes or altered to absolutely avoid receiving the ban hammer. We're already seeing that happen in fact.

People need to stop buying shit off Steam. Steam is not and never should be the be all end all store for Eroge. I know some people want to see it turn into some half ass Western DLsite or something, but they don't think about the damage they're potentially doing to the industry.

As for Lilith, I don't know what they were thinking. They'd have to be complete morons if they actually thought Valve wouldn't ban it, and what's with the attempted Episodic release? How stupid. I honestly think they're just completely inept. They could easily update the DLsite version with the English translation, but they don't. They could easily sell TA1 here or any of the other stores I mentioned, along with the other games of theirs that have been translated, but they don't.

They're just so dumb. Like I'd buy every single title of theirs that has been fan-translated if they'd license it out to whoever, release it uncensored and in English. A lot of the translation work would already be done for the publisher. I don't get it. I'd never buy something like that half ass Steam release they tried to do though.

Are we talking the individual game or the franchise as a whole? If the latter, I would much prefer Kurenai over Asagi, given that Kurenai features Felicia the best girl... Though, she is also in Battle Arena and RPGX
