A simple question about 3ds (XL)...
-2
Hi old pals!
So, I might buy a 3ds XL but i don't know for a fact if it can play pirated 3ds games.
If it can, then i can buy the console only and pirate the games but if it can't i will look to find a better deal for a bundle like the Zelda: A link between worlds...
The main reason that I'm going to buy it is because of Kingdom Hearts 3D (the same reason why i bought my PSP - KH BBS).
I googled this beforehand and it turns out that the Gateway flashcard bricked quite a few of the 3ds' that it was installed into.
So, unless there's a safe way to play pirated games then i will take it as a NO.

There's no safe way yet. After what happened to the DS(really good amount of sells but not the greatest attachment rate) they're trying to stop this sort of stuff. Personally they should've worked more on an account system.

Kingdom Hearts 3D (the same reason why i bought my PSP - KH BBS).You got the limited edition bundle too? And to answer your question, there is no real safe hack for the 3ds. Nintendo aggressively pushes updates.

No just the US version of BBS and regular NA PSP 3000, which thinking back wasn't such a good idea since the psp could already be hacked by the time i bought it and I ended up not playing the regular edition of BBS but a downloaded Final Mix japanese(translated) version - oh well...
[size=10]I beat yesterday Valkyria Chronicles 3 E2 - pretty good game if you like the gameplay and the story was better than VC2.[/h]
So, in conclusion there's no way to hack the 3ds to play pirated games...
Guess that i might as well look for a version that has some games included... and then buying one game at a time...

That is true now that I think about it. I would still hack mine if possible to get those imports.

Whatever, I'll just buy one game a month or two...
Fuck me but I can't afford game that cost 40-60$ - don't know how much 3ds games cost but if it's that much then fuck it I'll only buy used games...

They might not be complete assholes but they certainly can be pretty incompetent at times.

I do see the hypocrisy of people complaining about 'supporting companies games' yet they have no problem stealing animu, mangos and dem dirty comics from the hard working Nipponese.

OT: If i find a deal on ebay for less than 100$, I'm going to buy a 3ds xl otherwise it'll have to wait to a later game or maybe not at all...

There's also the fact that they don't really localize a lot of things. As long as Scanlators and Sub teams aren't being paid directly for modifying existing work, there shouldn't be a big morale outcry.

Stealing/pirating. I don't care if someone torrents the raws or fan subs. Hell i don't care if someone is getting hollywood movies or bds. Im just stating if it's good for the goose then the gander isn't void. Plus every new anime is licensed in the US before it even airs in japan now of days. Even if it never gets ported.
Stealing isn't quite the word i was implying, but you're not paying anyways so what the diff from torrenting Hangover 3 and ripping a copy off redbox or a friends legal copy.

3DS games are around 30-40 dollars, not that big of a deal to buy them.
Either way considering how big a deal flashcarts like R4 were, I would say there really isn't a safe way to play hacked games on a 3DS. As already stated they are cracking down on efforts and while there may be some that work they probably won't work entirely like with the original DS or PSP

Sure, it's good to support any creative content you want. It's pretty hard though when most stuff even if licensed isn't English. As much as I would love to buy a KLK BD set, it probably won't have English sum, won't be sold through Murican retailers, and is probably going to be super expensive.

The complete set of TTGL bd's limited ed was 700$... dvd was 250$. Shit SAO bds were 99$x4. And this was the NA sets... fucking japs pay that normality.
Also Yaya made me update my CCCP so i can play her opus audios in her Bd rips.

fucking japs pay that normality.Yeah, electronic media is hella expensive in Japan. I plan on buying the new J Stars Victory PS3 game and that'll run me about $80 and that's normal price. The limited Anisong edition is about $110. Anime box sets and DVDs are pretty damn expensive too though. Easily in the hundreds of dollars (when converted). I think the most I've seen a box set in America go for was a hundred something.

I do see the hypocrisy of people complaining about 'supporting companies games' yet they have no problem stealing animu, mangos and dem dirty comics from the hard working Nipponese.I personally like to use this rule set when it comes to piracy.
1) If the game is available legally in your language either through download or hardcopy you buy the game. From reputable sites for downloads, either e-shops or a website you trust (up to you, I can't fault you for being careful).
2) If the game is already announced to be localized or has a very high chance to be localized then you wait for the game and support it. Think say...the persona series will almost always be localized so you support it. If you really like a game then you should be 100% fine with getting the game so that they make sequels or DLC to extend your enjoyment of the game.
3) If the game has a precedent for not being localized or supported in your region and it definitely won't be localized then it is ok to pirate. Examples being New Loveplus, almost any galge or eroge, or some really really obscure Japanese game that simply will not be localized or translated. Go download a free english patch.
4) Exception: If the game is from a smaller developer who really isn't earning a lot of money and you REALLY enjoy the game just suck it up, import a copy, and find an english patch. There are no games in this category that I have personally been interested in.
The way I see it, if they don't bother to localize the game then they aren't willing to outreach to the market that is clearly there. And therefore it is ok to get the game illegally because they wouldn't have gotten the sale from you anyway as there was no place for you to buy it to begin with. They aren't losing money on the game being in regions they never bothered to translate for/localize for unless they do later decide to localize it. You likely don't read Japanese, and even if you do translating the whole game by yourself is kinda a pain even with voice overs. I realize that Pirating is a problem with 3DS but in that case you still have the option of importing a Jpn 3ds and game if you really must play the game, generally though I think that most of the games you would want to play are localized.
Just my thoughts. I feel it is fair enough. Be noted, this applies only to Video games and anime(cause dubs and localizing good anime almost never happens). Oh and FOR SHAME, that game is available in all regions the 3DS is available. Just buy the system and the game, if you choose to pirate a clearly accessible game then you deserve to have your console or handheld bricked.

I agree with the way you think. Actually the Kingdom Hearts series and only a few other games are the ones that i would actually buy a console for, hence my desire to buy a 3DS XL. I would buy most games that i enjoy but me being a poor ass motherfucker and living in a country where the average monthly wages are 300-350$ you don't have much left to buy luxuries(games and other not needed stuff)...
Anyway if i lived in the US or in some other country where my wage would be 2000$(or whatever is the average in the US and other developed countries) I would have bought a 3DS(in a heartbeat) a long time ago and would have pirated a lot less games for the PSP, PC and other emulators for pc.
I understand fully well that pirating is not a good thing for the game developers.
