Their all owned by the same people.. hotfile too.So basically... 'lots of sharing sites going down' boils down to the single master entity giving in to the fear of Megaupload's demise happening to them too.
I suppose it makes sense for them to save their asses if it still makes them money that way, but it still sucks nevertheless...
