Japanese 101 is over, since Thursday. Now, to learn 172 Kanji in less than 3 weeks somehow.
Also, still working full-time, gotta juggle that with this shit.
102 is gonna be a bitch.

Err... that's way too many. You sure you're taking a 102 level class?
I've taken Russian before, but no one expects me to learn 172 different vocabulary words before the start of 102.

No, it's actually not required - it's the amount we're supposed to have learned by the end of the class. By learning it early, I'll have an advantage, and then I can afford to slack off while I focus on my sign language class.

That's called being a bad student.

I don't necessarily learn things quickly, so I always give at least 150% effort into my studies. As in, I take more time for studies, even at the cost of sleep.
For classes I've had trouble with, make that 200%+ effort, like, 3-4 hours of studying before I leave campus every day. This does not include homework.
I want to save time, since it takes me 3 buses to get to and from campus each way, so I will be doing some preparation before the term, so that I can cut an hour or so from my daily study time. Meaning, I'll already have a good-sized arsenal of kanji to start, making assignments, tests, and learning further materials less time consuming.
Then again, spending all this time to justify my motives to you is probably a waste of effort.

I have a hard time believing your claims, but you're right, arguing about this would be a waste of time. Good luck with your 'preparations'.

He had a valid reason to post here in IB, it just turns out that only one person cared enough to reply.

Good luck. I've always wanted to start but was never motivated enough to start.

I'll probably start learning at some stage before I go over in 2018 (if we do still go), so I can find my way to ebisu and up garage

Friends are planning to go up every year, and gave me some advance warning to save the 10-15k needed for the trip, haha.
We'll properly plan it a lot closer to the time we go though
