Getting into Doujinshi
0
So I've always read doujinshi online and never had a physical copy until this year when I went to AX 2016 and bought all the Mizuryuland doujins from ProjectH. Boy.... am I hooked. I recently bought more from Ebay and doujinrepublic and man am I loving it.
I thought about just displaying and leaving them on my bookshelf but I've seen pics of other doujin collectors bagging and boarding them. I've collected American comics so I know whats its like to bag'em and board them and put them in a short/long box but I just wanted to know from other doujin collectors how they store them. and if you guys do bag'em which comic bag should I be using?
Also I know there was already a previous thread about where to buy doujinshi online but I'd like a few more recommended sites to buy doujinshi if you guys know any.

Best way is from Melonbooks or toranoana, but you need a proxy service since they no ship outside nipon. Mandarake you can find some... mostly used and they ship foreign. They do have card issue and no paypal for adult. Ebay you can find stuff... not alot but some. I think Jlist has some still.
Here the buyfag guide

Should help navigate thru the ways of the weeb. Taxes and custom.

Damn, that's a really helpful guide, thanks for the info.
Proxy service thing seems like a lot of work though...
Seems like most of the doujin collectors buy from Mandarake, so what's the card issues? and too bad about the paypal thing.
also I wanted to ask, which is better for buying in bulk and which is cheaper Mandarake or Doujinrepublic?
I just recently bought from doujinrepublic and love their free priority shipping and selection but its gonna be pretty hard to buy a lot of doujinshi since their prices seems really high just for one.

They require 3D Secure services which is fine but since California is on there weird list because of fraud you have to pay by paypal, but they don't allow adult good to be sold thru paypal so it's a vicious circle jerk. They did require you to photocopy your credit card and gov id also. I stop using them because yeah nope. Even though i use them many times and the same credit card.... they need me to do this again. Plus my bank doesn't use that visa 3d service.

Paying all at once does save money but increases the chance it being flag for custom check.

The proxy service are good. You just sign up and place a order with their proxy buyer form or buy it on the doujin store site and use the personalize address, pay the store and they ship it to the proxy service warehouse. I think the address is only for you so they know where to ship it to you. when then they get it, it enters your my page and you pay there commission and shipping rate and you get it in land of the tacos and freedom. Tenso is the one everyone uses.

After you bought from DoujinRepublic did you receive an email like this?
I agree that the prices are expensive, however this monthly discount coupon "sort of", helps.

.... 38$ for a 1080yen tank that not even out yet. 100$ for a USED copy of nudist beach del la big ass titties? Well........ not even rare items. Like amazon market place with out of print books... which i seem to find for 1/4 to 1/16 of the price.
In other news i been finding some dl action doujins and a bunch of mixed bags bleach/love live/oreimo/monogatari/Seitokai Yakuindomo doujins for 9.99 + 3 s&h off ebay. About 500 doujins at 10$ a piece from a us seller.

I guess it "sort of" helps lol...
I just don't know why their prices are so high though. Aren't doujins usually around like 4-10 bucks? I mean I don't mind paying a little extra like 10 or 15 bucks per one but 20 to almost 100 dollars sound ridiculous. I know the old ones are expensive but seems like the new ones that come out are still pretty pricy.

Seeing how pricey it can get, I suggest getting the books of your top favorite authors.lol, yea, but there's so many authors I like sometimes it's hard to choose.
I didn't realize, but apparently doujinrepublic was started this year from their other site otakurepublic.
I guess once they get in more customers maybe they'll lower their prices? maybe they might even rival mandarake and toranoana?
